I sure hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful day today?

I spent my time out in my grainery building another inside pen for my LF Crele Polish and my white Guineas. I love that building and glad after 26 yrs living here, it now has a use. Its becoming one heck of a seperate compartment hen house and about bullet proof for critters as it's all tongue and groved knotty pine on the inside. I told my Polish today "you's are now living in the Dryden Hilton Motel, dont mess it up" Im sure their gonna listen. LOL

Well, about time for bed. Long day tomorrow, 95 meaties to be butchered, 5 turkeys and a dozen rabbits.

Everyone , sleep well. And enjoy another day of warm sunshine tomorrow.

Is your broody a Buff Orpington? I have one that went broody twice this year...and I'm hoping she doesn't try again till spring...

That's funny about your piglet....pigs are crazy.

Hope everyone had a great Monday.

Yep, shes a Buff Orphington. She is so nice. She lets me hold the one chick that has hatched and check the other eggs. Doesn't even growl at me. I may have to give her a nice little name. hmmm. This is her first time going broody this year for me. She may have gone earlier for Hillbilly when he had her. I got 2 of them in Aug from him. He and his wife are so nice.

Opa--thats a great idea, I may have to cut them into smaller pieces for her. lol

On the news this morning there was a report about a family in Grand Rapids that are fighting to keep their chickens. They have had them for three years, the neighbors have not complained but the family has been ordered to get rid of them by Monday. I think they only have 4 or 5 chickens. I hope they get to keep them.

Boyd-my thoughts are with you and your family today.

Everyone else--have a good day. I am on vacation. or as my DH puts it workation. lol I have a list and no car till (hopefully the weekend) So, here I am stuck, not doing my list. Reading these posts. I HAVE to get busy.

Boyd: My thoughts and prayers are with Ash and your family.

Has anyone used Nite Guard to protect against predators? I watched a video on it this morning, and sounds like it does work. Here's the link

http://www.niteguard.com/

I could hear coyotes in the woods the last few nights and its bothering me to the point I keep going out to check on the hens every half hour or so. Im sure they are sick of my clicking on the light all night. Poor girls.

Freebie, maybe your car broke down so you wouldn't have so much to do. Hope you enjoy your vacation.
PS, I used to be from Empty Nest MI till middle DS decided to move back home a few weeks ago. [sigh] Someday it will be just DH and I. At least DS is doing a lot to help out around here.

FYI:

I am planning on making to trip to hillbilly roosters on Saturday to purchase some hens. If anyone close to me or north of me is interested, I could be the chicken express

My nest boxes haven't been pooped in so much lately, but they are getting the eggs all muddy when they go into lay. At least it washes off easily.

I turned out to be nice and warm today. I took the little ones out, but it was sooo wet, we played in the barn instead. We also made leaf wreaths, they came out really cute!

Aw! Congrats.
My BO is such a good momma...and doesn't mind me being around her at all. My BO's are very laid-back.

Happy Bday Hillbilly Rooster!
