I got this method off another BYB member but don't remember who. Anyways, I use it and it works great for boiled eggs. Bring your water to a rapids boil, then use a ladle to put your eggs in. Boil the eggs for 14 minutes, drain, add cold water until cool enough to handle. Then peel! Works like a charm!

YAKLADY

My findings on hard boiled eggs are, they are TOO FRESH, I keep a dozen in the back of my fridge that are at least 3 wks old before I even think about cooking them for eggs salad or deviled eggs. Then I get my water boiling first, put the eggs in with a tablespoon on a full boil for 14 mins. I take the pan right from the stove to the sink and run cold water over them until I can handle them myself. I smack then roll the ez across the counter then back under the running cold water to peel. Works like a charm. If you want to do a bunch at a time, just put cold water in a glass gallon jar and fill'em up with eggs. Last about 2 wks.

Good afternoon. How is everyones day going?

Shelly I want some of those chicks. The only problem is I have new chicks and I don't vacinate. I know I can't mix them in till after the 2 week mark. My first order of chicks last year I ordered them vacinated, then I wanted to add some more BO chicks and it is hard to find vacinated chicks. So now I just don't vacinate and try to pracitice good bio security.

Thanks for the tip! We haven't had any hard boiled eggs lately as Rachel is selling them faster than I can stach a dozen to let get over a week old!

Going to try it right now!

I have a question for you all. We have some friends kinda, the kind of people your friendly with when you see them, stay and chat a while, but we don't do things with them. Anyways, she works at the bank we go to and her husband got chicks last spring. They are her husbands chickens, kind of like these are my chickens.( I am not good at making the story short, sorry.) My husband was showing her pictures of the new chicks and today she gave my husband a dozen and a half of thier eggs. She told my husband they had RIR's. The eggs were just collected this morning and have not been refidgerated. But when I opened the carton it had all white eggs. Now I know RIR lay brown eggs, so now I am wondering what kind of chickens they might have that look kinda like a RIR but lay large white eggs. The only thing I could come up with is a dark brown leghorn? Any other ideas out there? I was thinking of letting a broody set them and see what they are? What do you think?

I don't think my old body can tell time anymore. For some strange reason it thinks its morning when any rational sane individual can tell it still the middle of the night, yet here I am wide awake.

I tried going back to sleep, but that didn't work. So I made some coffee, and just stayed up.
