lol, mom 2em all... I couldn't help but hear the Bennie Hill theme song as I was reading your adventure with that duck! Hope the tooth is ok.

I got my garden all planted over the weekend and added a few perenials to the flowers. Glad to have that job done!

I introduced my dog, Gino, to the geese and chickens this weekend.... he was WAY more interested in looking for the "treats" they leave behind to be bothered with all the birds running around... This morning I had him out with me while doing chores and I let the chickens out to go into their pen, mean while I'm calling for Gino and he comes trotting out of the chicken pen after they were all inside! The chickens don't seem to mind him at all. The geese on the other hand are not thrilled he's loose! I won't just let him out with out supervision and the e-collar, but I was happy that he completely blew them off.

My DS may also be coming to chickenstock with my DSIL and I. Hopefully, hitting Van Atta's that day too... (I confused Horrocks with Van Attas earlier).

Opa sorry to hear that Grannies dog is feeling bad, with teeth problems and dogs especially old dogs the biggest problem is nutrition. I always give any dog that is running down hill fast my puppy formula. Here is the recipe

I can evaporated milk
I can water
1 egg
1 TBLS yogurt (or Mayo)
1 tsp of olive oil

mix in blender or food processor, store unused portion in frig. Warm what you plan to feed in micro for about 30 secs just to take the chill off, make sure you stir it so that there is not hot spots. Will last 2 to 3 days in frig. If stool is runny leave out the oil, the mayo works in a pinch but yogurt is better helps with stomach enzimes.

Hope this helps

Sorry for everyones losses and upsets and sure hope that things are looking up.

Welcome to the new comers.

To anyone that is looking to leave on vacation and needs help with their animals, I would ask around at the feed stores to see if they know anyone who is reliable enough to help you out.

I will be missing Chicken Stock I promised my nephew I would cook at his wedding and I thought it was the weekend after Chicken stock and it is the day of Chicken stock. I love him and I promised so I will have to keep my word LOL. Will be so sorry to miss out on it all again . But heck next year will be here sooner rather than later.

Is very nice up here in the UP we are really hurting for rain but that can wait till night as far as I am concerned LOL. Hope you all have a great day.

Good afternoon. Hope everyone is doing well

My family and I went to a nature center this weekend as part of a Cub Scout function. Lo' and behold we're early and what should happen to come in without a home and no one wanting it?????? A little duckling, probably only a day or two old! A father and his 2 sons brought it in hoping the nature center would take it. They couldn't and there were no rehabilitation centers in the Lapeer area so I just couldn't bear to have this little guy left to his own devices. He/she was shivering and scared to death and SOOOO tiny! We brought 'em home and got him warmed up under a heat light and are doing our best but he's so lonely.

I was wondering if anyone in the Lapeer area might have any newly hatched ducklings for sale? I'd prefer a call duck because the breed we rescued is a small breed duck and extremely young, but honestly it would be nice just to find him another friend.

Please send me a pm if anyone has any, I'd really appreciate it!

I hope you had a fun day at the zoo with your kids, tho. Why waste it? Heck with your cousin, I bet your kids enjoyed the zoo. Got to make the best of the situation.

We had fun. I am not big fan of huge crowds, so I avoid places on the weekends. Other than the crowd it was nice. A big plus it was 100 degrees out

Ive got one little mallard baby that was left behind when Mom and the others crossed the busy street and left him behind. Very very tiny- can squeeze through a one inch by one inch square hole of a carrier door.
I wish you werent so far away or I would give him to you. pretty lonely for the poor baby here.

Woo-Hoo! First one to say Good Morning!

BF works first shift so he's up early. I may as well be getting up around this time as it is, because I'm looking at getting a stocking job that starts at 5am.

So I have been wondering, what is a good time to let chickens out of their coop?
BF teases me about sleeping in, saying that chickens need to be let out bright and early, but I have read a couple times that it is okay to leave them in the coop until later in the morning.

We have yet to get chicks yet as I'm still settling in from moving. Once things are a little more settled here we'll get the little fuzzballs and be on our way.

Leaving them in for a bit in the morning, provided of course the coop is well ventilated and won't get too hot, is just fine. Personally, I've never been much of a strict schedule kind of girl and none of my animals are on one either. I actually think a schedule causes more problems than it's worth as if something comes up and it's interrupted the animals notice and can become stressed. Some days our birds are let out first thing as soon as the sun peeks above the horizon, other days they stay in for a while -- I've left them in as late as noon when I was trying to break a stubborn hen from laying her egg in the hog house, for instance. I will tell you one thing, if I happen to get a weekend morning where I can sleep in uninterrupted I'm not going to set my alarm for the chickens. They'll be fine until I wake up.

I have been having so many computer issues........

Hopefully things are up and running like they are supposed to be now.

I have finally heard from the doctor about my test results. They told me that the results are normal for my condition and to come back and see him October.
he.gif
I said that I haven't been diagnosed with anything yet and I wanted to get a diagnosis. I did not want to wait till October since the vision issue has been going on for a year and a half now. When I did see him the one time in March he gave me a prescription and said if it helped then I "probably" have Myasthenia Gravis. He didn't tell me what it was or anything. It is an autoimmune disorder that causes muscle weakness, there is no cure but the symptoms can be managed. Anyway the receptionist called me back and said the dr wrote in my chart that I have MS! So all weekend I was worried about what was going on.... The nurse called me yesterday and said the test results show I do not have MS and she actually asked me how the medicine was working for me. I have had some improvement with it so she said that it sounds like I do have myasthenia gravis.
I have called my family doctor and he is even having difficulty with getting a diagnosis for me from the neurologist. He is referring me to another neurologist. I think I have been patient long enough.

I asked if he could refer me to a neurologist that is on the Medical advisory board for the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation.
