I got 3 loads of wash dryed outside yesterday. Just takes a little longer, I try to have my first load on the line by 8am, the heavier clothes, jeans and such.

Now today, I won't do laundry since it raining and cruddy out. Tomorrow though will be nice.

I am trying to lower our electric bill some by not using the dryer if at all possible. (Several raining days require me to use the dryer though!)

Good luck on your laundry and we'll know who the lady in the pj's is on Saturday

A little off topic, but I am trying to reach Nancy Huston, Huston's Happy Hens but her inbox is full. Just making sure she is still wanting her blrw chicks for chickenstock, confirming my orders.

Back to your regularly scheduled program...........................

I think there is too great a disparity in sizes and that is creating the problem. I never introduce new birds that are less than four months old that way their sizes are closer and they are less apt to be dominated.

thanks everyone! He is sorta cute. I always felt that babies resemble grumpy old men. This one seems have a good dose of SASS! he gave his mom the finger today when she was trying to feed him via the incubator... so the nurse got him out so she could hold him to feed. Much better. He was so much happier.

Wife got the staples out today, and she is home finally. Getting settled in me thinks.

My 13 yr old son called me to see our White Plymouth Rock hen was stalking a Starling around the yard. Every time the bird found something good to eat, Dove would try to get it away from it. You'd think the crazy starling would go somewhere else. Not.
I've always said Dove was the smartest gal in the flock.

So many post.

Very cool on the turtle. I agree probably looking for a place to lay eggs.

I went with Opa's advice on waiting till the chicks were older this time and between them meeting each other with a fence between them and waiting till they were bigger it was the smoothest intro I have had yet.

I agree Sarah, I dry clothes all the time on the line and it really does cut the electric bill down. We can run the central air with no difference in the bill. Humid, still days just takes longer to dry.

HBH how is the new bigger coop and run going?

DD(9) took it down as I was gone this evening and even folded it! I was shocked, it is like pulling teeth get her to help with folding laundry.

This evening we surprised Opa and Granny by stopping by their place. My oldest two and I were down the road for a 4-H meeting. The chicks hatching are so cute! Thanks for the visit Opa and Granny

HELLO FELLOW MICHIGANDERS
lol.png

I HAVE A QUESTION FOR ANY OF YOU WHO MIGHT HAVE HAD EXPERIENCE WITH INTRODUCING CHICKS OUTDOORS AT THIS TIME OF THE YEAR. I HAVE A PEN THAT HAS SOME COVER MEANING THEY CAN GET OUT OF THE RAIN AND THERE MAY BE SOME WIND BLOCKAGE BUT NOT 100 PERCENT. I SENT OUT SOME 6 WEEK OLD CHICKS FROM MY BASEMENT AND HAVE LOST ONE TO THREE EVERYDAY FOR A WEEK OR MORE. THERE WERE ABOUT 3O OR SO CHICKS SO THEY COULD HUDDLE.... MY QUESTION IS DOES EVERYONE WHO PUTS CHICKS IN A PEN MAKE SURE THEY HAVE ACCESS TO A 'COOP" OF SORTS...LIKE A DOGHOUSE OR SOMETHING? ALSO DO YOU SUPPLEMENT HEAT AT NIGHT? NOBODY HAS A RUNNY NOSE OR YUCKY EYES...THEY ARE ON MEDICATED CHICK FEED AND I PUT ELECTROLYTES/VITAMINS IN THE WATER.....I DID PUT A PILE OF SHAVINGS IN THERE AND A RUBBERMADE CONTAINER ON IT'S SIDE....WE DID HAVE SOME COLD NIGHTS NOT TO LONG AGO....
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY INSIGHT !
