Good news is we're opening up the garage this week for everyone. The ducks might get the hen house. It's big enough for 40 ducks or more! Oops better not let Aric see me saying that then he'll really worry LOL

Hey Gang:

Bro in Alaska is JUST getting into chickens...bought some from a lady there in Homer...he has one whose crop is getting larger and she's not laying and he's about ready to butcher her...my thought is sour crop...proper remedy is to turn upside down and massage crop and she'll expel the problem - right??? thanks!

Expelling the contends of the crop by massage and inversion will work but you really have to pay very close attention and not keep her upside down very long. Quite often the impaction is caused by long strands of stiff grass. Having a pair of hemostats handy to pull them out is a good idea.

Fair is finally over...Not too bad for me in the chicken department. I won 2nd place in Senior showmanship with my Aussie. I took Reserve Grand Champ Roasters and got $662.75 for three birds!!!!!

Other than that I sold my friars for $50 and my other birds were entered in 4-H and were only given A awards. I took 4th place in Market for my steer and took three Best of Shows for my photography.
I received over 40 eggs from the fair of many different breeds and they are all sitting in my bator. I also am getting some French Copper Maran juveniles. So not a bad week overall
