I managed to upload a few short videos I took of all the ducks playing in the water hose.

I put the 3 little calls in with the two big cayugas again. They're still a little afraid but they all eventually calmed down and everything was fine. I was impressed because Opie didn't really want much to do with them, but Sadie, she was curious. Until we expand the pond area, there's just a small area around the pond and Sadie and the babies went around and around the pond for a couple of hours! If Sadie wanted to, she could have chased them faster or gone after them, but she didn't. You could tell it was just curiosity and nothing else. After a few chases around, she'd get in the pond and sit for a little bit then do it again.

It started to get humid early, and since the pond needed more water, I dragged the hose around and every once in a while I'd go back there and spray them some more. Sadie and Opie LOVED being sprayed. At first I wasn't sure if the babies could handle that much water, but I gave it a try. I put the sprayer on mist and they loved that. Then I increased it and they were like the big kids, they would walk toward it, drink from it and get upset when I stopped! It was the cutest thing ever!!

So since it was so cute, I took a few short videos and uploaded them to youtube.

gallinamama, Loved the pic of kindergarten kids. I teach middle school so they are a bit different.

That first day of "real" school is such a big milestone, especially for parents and grandparents. Michiganwrangler did you have your first day teaching spanish? Any other teachers here? I know Sarah homeschools, when will you be starting classes?

Hey All:

I've got 3 broodies that have been sitting on eggs and we've not had any luck hatching....apparently Brewster doesn't make his rounds as well as I thought! So the question is: does anyone close to Dewitt (North of Lansing) have day old chicks coming out of the incubator???

I have a hen in the kitchen setting on three beautiful blue eggs. Should have hatched out Friday. She had others hatch out Th, Fri and Sat......So we have 3. But no blue ones!!!!! what a disappointment. I've been looking for ads for local chicks to stick under her. Good luck finding something for your gals. I did see an ad under day old chicks of someone in SE MI with some chicks a few days old. I'm too busy this week to run. Did you see the ad?​

One of my favorite hens of all time was an ISA Brown, her personality was one in a million. I was thinking the other day that we really should have some more of those around. They're egg laying machines, those girls.

And, at the risk of stating the obvious, you do know the Cornish Rocks are meat birds, right? They'll need to be butchered at 6-12 weeks of age.

Okay, I'm confused. I assumed when you posted that he lived in another state since he'd already started school. I was under the impression post Labor Day start was now a Michigan law?

It is the law for all public schools. My guess is he went to a private school. Not sure about charter schools.
