Know what you mean! I went from an ass't librarian to a Spanish teacher with a heavy curriculum so I'm busy planning and whatnot.

Also: have to finish up garden, paint floor of cochin coop, get pellets for stove.

ALSO: conditioning horse for last 2 endurance rides of the season (near Cadillac and Munising respectively). First of those is this weekend, second is Oct. 2-3

Hi,
I live in ann Arbor and we have chickens for the first time. We're loving them. We don't have any eggs yet. 2 of the chickens are 5 months old and 5 were born July 4. We have 2 barred plymouth rocks, 1 brahma, 1 red star, 1 polish, 1 ? , 1 dominique. I'd like to get some silkies but hubby says I should wait until I find out if these are going to bother the neighbors with their egg song once they start laying. I'm totally hooked and spend alot of time watching them. Just wish they would start laying.

Michigander here... close to the Flint area. New to chickens, purchased our 1st flock of 6 lt brahmas hoping to get lots of eggs but have recently discovered we received 4 roos and only 2 hens so I had to purchase a few more older pullets so now we are trying to all get a long.

I had no idea how much I would enjoy just watching them interact. Now when I let my original brahmas (only 4 left since I'm rehomed 2 roosters so far) free range they just follow me all over. So funny!

welcome ...Im also new and have chickens about the same age as yours... We have a little silkie that gives us 1 tiny little light brown egg everyday. The kids call them angel eggs ( her name is angel ) We love it... I have my coffe with them in the morning

Today appears to a repeat of yesterday which was just about a perfect day weatherwise. A few more cold nights and I think I'd better dig my sweet potatoes. I'm anxious to find out just how well they have done this year. The plants grew like mad, now if they produced something besides leaves I might be in good shape. I even went out and purchased a potato digging fork so I am looking forward to using it.

Wow! Welcome to chicknmama, lilmstw72 and Wendy'sChicksRock

to all the newbies!!

Hope everyone is having a great day! I have a lot to do but the body isn't letting me do anything but crochet today. Just as well I have 3 baby blankets to whip up by the end of the month. I can do it but I get so busy with all the animals. But, since two of these blankets are for money I guess I better get on the ball (no pun intended lol)

Wendy'sChicksRock!

I'm over by Irish & Coldwater Rds. How about you? Currently, I'm a stay at home mom but kind of looking to return to the workforce again. Not many options out there though so meanwhile I'm enjoying being at home with my kids (6 & 4) and of course my new love of chickens. They are so entertaining.

Hey - took poop samples from all over the chicken yard today to the vet to see if they have worms - recall that we have one hen (separated) who has gargancun poops that are mushy and a lt green in color.....NO WORMS but coccodi....now we don't know if this is from the one hen we have separated or not because the vet MIXED THEM ALL TOGTHER! had specifically separated that out - will be taking another tomorrow to her - ? - has anyone ever had an issue w/coccodia and/or how did you handle - this hen is acting totally fine and has had the mushy poop for 2 wks.....thanks! btw, i've been feeding her yogurt.
