Actually I also am in need of a bigger coop. Wish I could get one of these old ones I see farmers not using anymore.....just pick it up and bring it here.

Such a shame to see them not used and you just know they are gonna fall down in a few years time.

I have absolutely no idea where I left off reading in the thread before the holidays and now I am just overwhelmed. So, is there anything new and different happening other than something about mustaches and beards?

Still got lots of snow up in the northeast LP, actually reached 29 this week. So much ice on the pop door I couldn't close it tonight. Had to put up the emergency plywood door held against the opening with a shovel.

My DH has a mustache. He'd look weird without it.

She must be talking to you Sam.

I read back a few pages to see if anyone else was talking about building. There wasn't anyone so she must have meant us. As long as we can hide out here, don't actually show our faces and say something nice once in a while she won't know any different.

Wife says to me, "Aren't you gonna use that new incubator to hatch eggs"

Me: Yep, I am waiting for it to warm up so I can get them delivered.

Her: Why does it have to warm up, aren't eggs refrigerated?

Me: Yes, they are dear. But if they get too cold they will crack the shells and be no good.

Her: So why were you in a hurry to get the incubator if you can't use it for a while?

Good Morning fellow Michiganders-

i hear we are getting a break in the weather this weekend, then Hell is freezing over again.

Everyone please send strong vibes that the extreme cold leaves by Feb. second- that is when I have eggs being shipped in.

I decided I was going to force Spring to come, so I will be hatching a whole bunch of eggs the end of February.

Steve-
I have the opposite problem here. My husband is the one who thinks logically. I was super nice to him during hunting season (oh, sure hunny- you should definitely go hunting for an extra week...blahblahblah) so that when it is time for me to ask him for another coop...better yet, an expansion on the one I have, he will not be so grumpy about it. (okay fine, he will, but I will have some leverage. After all, hunting season will come around again this November/December...maybe even turkey in May...)

That sounded like me and my hubby last spring. I had chicks ready to move and nooo coop. Hubby wanted to go walleye fishing out on the bay. I still hear it -- "It only took how long to build during prime fishing season" But I got my coop and he eventually did get to go fishing.

I got to get around all my stuff for this year and figure out 1099's.

Good morning everyone. I saw the conversation about the ISA's from townline yesterday and wanted to let you know that the California Grey's I ordered from them have been laying like crazy all through winter even more that the ISA's. They are my only white eggs so it's easy to figure out the numbers (thank goodness). They have been averaging 26/month without supplimental lighting since they started to lay. They are a little skittish and probably an easy target for preditors but so far nothing compares to their productivity.

Mornin' All,
Looks like everyone is chatty as usual! Sounds like it is going to be warm today(33). I am having a slow day with only 2 extra kids here today. Maybe if they take a good nap I can take the baby monitor out and get one of the coops cleaned. As for right now, I am going to give a little one a bath, it seems she thought p.b. toast would look good in her hair! Too funny! Hope everyone has a great day!

Steve- what kind of eggs are you looking for?
