Hi Michiganders,
I have one hen left. She is pictured in my profile photo. She is 18 months and a Belgium D'Uccle, Mille Fleur. Very fat, feathered and tame, she is a lap chicken.
If you have a great home for her, call me. 616-634-1841

Good afternoon fellow Michiganders... enjoying the slightly warmer temps today. I'm going to do a little cleaning in the chicken coop if I can get motivated to get out there.

Right now I have a pumpkin pie in the oven and it smells soooooo yummy!!! Trying to fight off a cold with some hot tea and actually thinking about taking a short nap with my 3 year old before it gets much later.

Have a great day all!

Sarah, Please post if you do find out about that mobile processor! We want to get meaties next year, but I don't want to deal with the processing. If we can't find someone, I guess we will just keep buying them...

Afternoon, Michiganders! It's chilly out there. Sprinkled a bit here today but not any real rain. I hope everyone is well.

Celia, I just realized you asked me a question pages back and I never answered. I didn't mean to ignore you. So sorry! Getting another hen next year shouldn't be too much of a problem. Two might be better just in case she doesn't assimilate perfectly. Chicken Math!

I always have Australorp ladies of various ages available. I won't have any more light brahmas since I received all pullets rather than straight run as I'd ordered. I don't have a roo for them. I will once they get laying well have Australorp/Light Brahmas. And next fall/winter I may have brahmas of other colors -- I'm looking into bringing in some other (very pretty) blood.

Great! I like the idea of 2 better anyway!
Do you think our coop can handle 4 if they free range?
I could always build "up" and have the coop part 2 storeys! (Tweek's gonna kill me!)

Celia
Wantin more chickens!

I think your coop would handle 4 just fine.
