Well, the first bird we aren't exactly sure. It was found dead under the laying box in the middle of the day when it wasn't cold and it was fine all morning from what we could tell. But after the last 2 we pretty much summed it up that it must have died in the same manner.

Well, my daughter went to stay with some friends to help them with their newborn (they have 4 boys and now finally a girl) so Aric and I are alone for the first time since mid summer. No money to go anywhere but it's quiet! I'm trying to finish an afghan that was actually supposed to be in the mail Friday and Aric is trying to fix the noisy pellet stove. I miss my ducks and chickens. I haven't seen them in about a week. My neck keeps getting worse and Aric doesn't want me going out there and slipping and hurting it more. That would be my luck a few weeks before surgery!

The dogs are so cute. They know I don't feel good so they follow me everywhere. Then when I'm sitting on the couch the girls lay on the couch next to me and the bigger dog on the floor near my feet. I feel so loved! lol

Kind of a crappy picture but here's my brooder I'm going to use for the chicks!

It has three stages for the chicks to grow before they go outside

Keyt -- Looks like these pullets are right in your area.

Jen -- Looks neat. Are there built in heat lamps or...? I've got to side with HH though, no chicks in the house here. Dusty little buggers.

the top part is a brooder with a heat source (I have to investigate on how it all works) My basement is accessed through my garage and it's warm down there so the chicks will grow up down there!

The sun is just gorgeous this morning, but don't let it fool you. It's still cold out there.
