Vicki...that is neat that you do the 4H thing....I really had so much fun in 4H. LOVED camping on the fairgrounds with our group. The last two years I showed a pony....didn't even mind barn/stall duty!
That is great that you and Keyt aren't far from each other. I had cousins in Eaton Rapids.
Well....I need to go sign up for the Chickenfest that is posted. My dad and my husbands dad are both 97 living in Florida so all events/plans we make always hinge on "if they are doing ok".
Warm day today....woke up and it was 20!!!! HEAT WAVE!!! Enjoy everyone!
Last year about 100 folks attended and the number of birds and animals bought for sale/swap was amazing. The surprizing thing was that I was able to go home with less than I came with all though I must admit it was extremely difficult to walk away from some beautiful birds.
It's amazing how 15 degrees can feel like a heat wave in the morning after what we have been waking up to.
65 Days Until April 1
It's supposed to hit almost 30 here today. I may have to break out my shorts and suntan lotion!
I'm trying to decide whether to spend the money to rewire and test out the Farm Master vintage cabinet incubator I posted about a while back or buy, say an LG, for a hatcher to maximize productivity in my hovabator. And maybe even another hovabator this year? Any thoughts? Has anyone use a still air LG as a hatcher? I have good hatch rates with my hova and I'm nervous to switch the eggs right at the end and have that change, but I need more hatching capacity. Ultimately what I need is a sportsman -- or similar -- but it's not on the farm budget this year, it's just not. So I need to figure something else out in the meantime.
Even better yet, anybody have an incubator they're not using that they'd like to loan to a poor, hard-working farmer until about mid-June?
Went to let the chickens out of the coop and check for eggs and I found that curly had laid an egg, a green one too!
Now all my chickens are laying eggs!
