Thanks for the welcome. my chickens are around 17 weeks old, I got them as dayish old chicks in early October. I am looking forward to the first egg! I have 4 pullets and 1 roo. I am having lots of fun. I actually started out with 4 roos and 2 pullets, but traded the 3 of the roos back to the lady who sold them to me for 2 leghorn pullets. Now they are one happy family weathering the cold out in the backyard. No electricity out there, and they have been doing great despite the cold temperatures. Today they are out and digging holes in the backyard happy with the balmy weather we are having.

Wow! I can not believe how many new members there are and how many posts! Truth be told I haven't been on in a long time

Just one thing after another all the time. I hope everyone is doing well and staying warm. I hate winter!!!!

Our most recent newbies to our flock were three geese from Vicki2X2 this past summer. We got them for flock protection and because I think they are just beautiful. They have worked out wonderfully!!! Thank you Vicki!!!

Every spring I increase our flock just a tad and this year am hoping to finally get some dark brown egg layers. If anyone out there thinks they might have some available in April please let me know! Vicki... do you think you might have Welsummers? Or maybe Wynette, might you have some BCMs???
