I have a dirt floor in one coop and a concrete in the other.

We have had varmits dig into the coop with the dirt floor and none in the concrete floor (this coop has been around for almost a year).

The concrete is easier to clean too!

What ever you decide will work Steve!

In honor of MJ... This is one of her processed chickens... Who else baked and thought of her today?

I've done nothing but think of her today. I roasted one of her yummy meaties on Monday...finished it up yesterday. I've just been too down in the dumps today to bake anything...just not feeling up to it. What a nice tribute to her, Catray.

Awwww, how nice Wynette. Will do. But unless she's just super worn out (which she probably will be), she'll jump on here and post right away, I'm sure. If she hasn't posted by 8pm, then I'm gonna give her a call.

I imagine most of us on here have thought and prayed a lot for her today. She is one in a bazillion and I am so happy to say I know her (and all of you rare chicken breeds!) What an awsome networking of hearts there are here!

Catray, I can't wait to meet you. When MJ and I talked after you visited her on Monday, she couldn't say enough good words about you and your DD. MJ is one of the most selfless people I have ever known. Simply calling her my friend is such a blessing to me.

That goes for me as well. Kind of a nice little "Michigan" community we have here.

I hope all goes well for MJ as well, I talked to her just once on the phone, and it was like I knew her forever, she makes syou feel so welcome.

I'd be willing to bet, that is pretty much the same for everyone in here....you can just get a "feel" for that kindness through our typewritten words.

Waiting to hear how M J is doing been praying all day for her. Baked homemade chicken soup and chocolate cupcakes today thought of her the whole time.

Was wondering if anyone can tell me a banty breed that has feathered feet and lays colored eggs, got a old man who wants me to hatch some and he had them as a kid. I am not up on banty's.

On the other hand the eggs I got from Julie (BYC handle Jab91864 and is from MI) are pipping. I got three started as of 5:15 pm today. These are designer chicks and I must say I have hatched from Julie before and got the most beautiful birds, the neighbor's dog killed them at 11 weeks when it went thru the electric fence. They were so nice I had to order more from her. She is great to work with and a super nice lady. The electric fence has a higher charge now it will knock an elephant to it's knees and the whole neighbor hood knows it.

Steve seen your wife's quilt on the craft thread. I must say how nice it was to see you so proud of the woman you married. It was a very well done quilt you are right to be bursting at the buttons over her and her quilting abilities.

Nice grandson and congrats on the new soon to be Granddaughter, I believe her name is going to be Ava. Your wife is making her such a beautiful blanket. She also enabled me LOL I am going to start saving for that cutter she told us about.

I would go with concrete floor if ya can swing the cost. Might be more expensive but will be so worth it in the long run. You can also get a sealer for them now so that they don't bring water up like a wick. Just roll it on with a brush, I would let it air out if you go with a sealer.

I am so excited about my eggs pipping, I can't wait to see what I got. The last ones that I hatched from Julie were mostly feather footed, it was so cool. Right now I have a pen with 1 blue cochin hen, 2 black orps hens, 5 buff orp hens and 1 black orp roo, and my other pen has 5 SG dorking hens 1 BR hen and 1 SG dorking roo. These will be fun and should start laying come spring.

Thanks for letting me share.

Good luck with the hatch, Zookeeper. Got my fingers crossed for ya!

I may have to try some of Julie's eggs this year. I love surprises.

No word from Miss_Jayne yet...impatiently waiting, I am. I'm not worried about her, 'cause I know she's in very good hands. I just wish they could actually give her some USEFUL information from all these tests!
