Hi all you freezing Michiganders. I have 9 chicks in my basement that I would like to get outside. We just got the 50 white pine we ordered from the conservation district sale and I really don't feel like planting trees in gale force winds with snow on the ground!

All I could do to brave the cold and make it to church this morning. Took the bantams out of the summer coop and put them back in the big coop cage. The banty roo was not happy with me. Added another tarp over the ducks hoop house to try to block the wind. The are 6 or 7 weeks now and fully feathered. I ran a heat lamp out there around 9 pm last night. My DH just shakes his head at me and my DD says I am a worry wart. May be I'm off my rocker.

Going out to Home Depot right now to check out prices on PVC for my new chicken tractor! DH wants to dp freedom rangers instead of meaties.

Keyt - I sell my chicken eggs for $2.50 but I list them in East Lansing bc I usually meet customers up after class. Duck eggs I sell for $3.00 but I'm sure I can get them for more but I sell them to a lady whose child is allergic so I don't charge her much, she also meets me in EL as well. I'm not sure how much you could get away with on ER, maybe $2?

It's interesting you say that about the other small one. I was supposed to get 5 easter eggers and one bantam. I only took one bantam out of that bin and the guy at Family Farm & Home picked out the easter eggers for me because they were mixed in with 3 other non-bantam breeds. But one of those easter eggers is the same size as the bantam! It's ok, I ordered some EE hatching eggs so we'll be doing fine in that department. Now all I need are some marans and Aric is dying for a jersey giant then we are all set!
