Opa, how in the world do you keep finding so many different pics of Sam E.?

Morning, fellow Michiganders! The sun is shining, and my chickens actually came out of their coop this morning, and it was only 16* when I opened their pop door! Had to kick them out yesterday for cleaning...they weren't happy, but it was sunny & gorgeous out, and above freezing, yet this didn't want to go. I'll never figure them out!

I got some different shavings from TSC than the brand they normally carry, and I really like them. I swear, they smell like nutmeg, but I didn't see anything on the label to indicate a spice was added! The brand is like Royal....something. Shoot, can't remember. But the bag has a large "P F" on it, and apparently the company makes them in 3 sizes of flakes. Interesting. They also seemed to be a bit drier if that makes any sense, than the other ones I was getting. Anyone use the nutmeg smelling shavings?

don't be so sure yet. i tried a new recipe and they needed more flour than the recipe called for. they don't look as nice as i'd like, but they taste pretty good!

It felt a little bit like spring out there today, with a peek of sun and some wind it even melted a little bit of the snow!
I got another tiny little white egg today! My big girls better be careful or the young'ens are going to show them up!

Well the girls must have enjoyed how nice it was today. Every time I looked they were outside yet I had my best egg day yet. 15 for 19 pullets. I have 4 ameraucans and I got 3 green eggs. If they keep laying at this rate they will soon have the cost ratio down to $100 a dozen.

Hi All,
I still have two American Roosters to get rid of if anyone close by is interested? They are pretty guys with rose combs. I would trade the two for one full size hen.
Yup, groundhog saw his shadow. I am ready for spring too. All this talk of snow and cold weather is getting depressing. It was alright when I was younger and out sledding and playing all day. Now that I have to shovel it, it loses its grandness.
Made a nice batch of chili tonight. Always nice on a cold night. My hens are starting to lay now and my little white silkie is broody. She is my tiniest one and so fiesty!!!
Hope you all have a wonderful day and evening. Myrna

My flock is small and young. Of my 4 who were laying faithfully, only one is currently laying. They were going like gangbusters till we hit 25-30* below... Hope they resume soon with the longer days and warmer temps.... I miss my eggs!
