I think spring is right around the corner. The breeder that I got my call ducks from told me to expect eggs in March.....

but I got my first one today! So I think my calls know something we don't.

Winter sure seems long this year. Maybe it's because this is the first winter that I have had chickens and the additional work winter creates with caring for them is the reason it feels so long.
Last April I thought I'd get 4 or 5 hens. Now I have 3 coops, 3 pens, a chicken tractor, 21 chickens, and am starting to draw up plans for one or two more coops. This is a serious sickness I have contracted. I think it might be wise if I stay away from Miss_Jayne, she seems to have contracted an extremely virulent strain.

I'm with you, Sam. I got 6 to start with...that was all I needed. What I DID NOT take into equation was what I eventually WANTED!

Hey, folks - on the meet/greet/swap - what do you all think about a potluck of sorts?

A pot luck sounds fine to me. Keep us posted as to when this will be and where. Wynette's house?

And I'm with you too opa. Three chicks, three years ago, that's it. I live in a subdivision for Pete's sake. Um, a few years later, and the flock has grown and I still want more, but don't want to blow my cover. This is an addiction for sure, but a good one at that!

Oh yeah, MJ tried to get Lauren to take babies home in her pockets! I have 2 pullets/hens and had talked myself into being content with that... one trip to Columbiaville later and I have 5 Delaware chicks ordered and possibly one more of MJ's BR's, lol. Oh, and Lauren is having her hatch her out a bantam... mind you, I was trading a bantam to MJ for a BR to make a little bit of room.... Now I am working hard on figuring out a cheep addition for housing!! Moral of the story.... DON'T GO TO MJ'S unless you are ready for chicken fever or.... have lots of space! (First she feeds you and gets you into a nice sugar coma and then I think the subliminal messages start....)

Hi All!!!
Even though it is a little cold, it is still fairly nice outside. Checked on my chickens and they are all fine. Got two eggs today. Will check some more later. Our little white silkie is setting on 7 eggs. I wrote on the calender when they should be hatching. I love those little fuzz balls!!!

I plan to clean out our coop this weekend when it is supposed to be warmer.
I couldn't get our taxes done. For some reason one of my W2s are not coming. So I had to call and see if I could find out why. Of course all the money is already going gone, but that is alright.
A pot luck sounds really good. Let me know when and where. I can bake a pie or two.
Hope you all have a wonderful day!!!! Myrna

i'm so in for potluck! i will also be passing out test tubes full of virulent chicken addiction germs.

OMG MOM!! I got locked out of their house for a half hour and Cameron didnt have any gloves, and some lady stopped and tried to let us in because she saw me trying to open a window with a snow shovel. so the lady was like here and she took the key and did something to the dread lock and then smacked her hip in the door and it opened. I tried everything on that door I felt like sucha idiot!

Yeah, but Steve, what experiance do you have with a "dread lock"???? ROFLMAO Lauren, how was a snow shovel going to get you in the window? Did you break their "dread lock"? I am glad you are back inside and the kids are ok, too! Love you, Honey!
