Oh, she's all by herself? I can't take anymore, but maybe someone else will speak up for her.

Im nowhere near Grand Rapids- but if she is needing a home and can get to Chicken Stock, she could come live here. My Frizzle wouldnt mind the company, Im sure. The Silkies RIRJen is bringing me

will be too small for my Frizzle to have for company for a few weeks.

It might be possible....I've got some hatching now and have another hatch due right before chickenstock...I will have a very very limited amount of silkie chicks though. And depending on if my showgirl was "in action" I may have showgirl chicks.

If you get showgirls- I definitely would like to purchase from you..and a couple silkies, if possible.

I dropped my cellphone in the swimming pool and now I am certain I am going to die.

I finished my pond- meaning, I de-swamped it and re-filled it. I went and bought two bags of beneficial bacteria and added that. It is so nice to be able to see the bottom. I locked up the ducks and the goose. They are not happy. However, they now have a 250 dollar swimming pool (the cost of my phone).

My daughter tried helping me yesterday- she caught the remaining goldfish and my turtle and put them in a styrofoam fish-shipping box inside the garage ontop of the deep freeze. This morning? Nothing in there. Raccoons? My poor turtle

I have been searching for it all day. Its nowhere.

Hope you put that cell phone in a closed baggie with uncooked rice. I've dropped cell phones in numerous types of fluid and it has worked to clear it up. Funniest (and most expensive one) was a cup of coffee. I didn't know where my phone was and my ex and I kept calling it. We could hear a buzz but couldn't figure out where it was coming from til I found it in the cup of coffee. That's the only one that the rice didn't work for because it was probably in there over an hour lol

I just came in from putting eggs into lockdown. The 22 welsummers were all too dark for me to candle so I will just have to wait and see. The 27 bantam eggs did do to well. Of the original 13 vorwerk eggs only 4 went back into the incubator, from the original 6 orpingtons only 3, and 7 out of 8 spangled hamburgs made it. Hopefully in 3 or 4 days there will be 14 bantam chicks looking up at me. I quite excited about the prospects of being able to see the hatching chicks in the new incubator. The Welsummers are in the old one so I will be twisting and turning trying to look thru the two small windows.

I LOVE Welsummers! We have two hens and not only are they pretty but they don't take any **** from the boys. They are two of my best behaved hens. I love those Vorwerks too. I'd sure love to have a couple of them.

One of the chicks that hatched today is HUGE. She has long legs and her body is wide and fat. I'm thinking her daddy must be one of my BLRW boys. Has to be, they're the biggest roos we have. I think I'll keep that one and the only silkie I have so far. I'm still waiting on about 30 more eggs. Unfortunately my incubator did the temp spike thing again. I thought it happened last time because we had the pellet stove on in the other room. Looks like I'll be replacing the incubator come Spring.

I sure wish that I could get my waking to coincide with the daily event called sunrise. This waking hours before is aggravating. As irritating as that may be at least I'm waking up so my day is going to be much better than the one had by those who didn't.

171 hours. That's all the time left until Chickenstock. I'll bet many of you didn't think that it would ever get here, but next Saturday instead of being looked at like you're a brick or two short when you say "I raise chickens", you will hear, "Me too, what breeds do you have"?

Morning!

It is way too early on a Saturday for me to be up but my dogs weren't thinking so. My tasks for today? Finish installing drip irrigation around my flower garden and make ginger snap cookies for my dad.

(plus the regular household chores)

hmmm....maybe I'll make a quiche too.

Well anyway, I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Had to chuckle on those words of wisdom...."my day is going to be much better than the one had by those who didn't". 3;00am.....is that when you wake up?? That is a typical wake up and can't go back to sleep time for myself and some of my friends. Really aggravating! That is when a "nap" is nice!!

I know a lot of chicken people keep rabbits too. A friend of mine lost the whole litter of her daughter's 4-H fair project pen of meat rabbits. If anyone has 3-6 california or new zeeland 4-6 week old rabbits they want to sell, I am planning on being at Chickenstock. Let me know.
