haaha thanks. I won a bunch of contests in middle school and high school back when the Lansing State Journal did writing and photography contests for school kids. I bought a much better camera last fall with a full intention of taking photography more seriously (although some might think I'm already obsessed...especially with the thousands of photos I have on facebook) and even going back to taking senior and family portraits, but then I backed off thinking my camera really isn't good enough even though I've seen photographers with one not even half as good.

Aric tells me all the time I'm no different than any other artist who is judgmental of their own work. Maybe

OK everyone, I need to find a nice Barred Rock rooster. Yes, a rooster. I have gotten myself into a pickle and I have to find a nice BR that I can give to someone I had promised one of my BR roosters to. I had two, Vinnie and Joe, but Vinnie got killed last week in a fox attack. I have decided I just can't part with Joe, but I had promised him to someone who is coming to Chickenstock. I now need to find a rooster for her. He will go to a great home and have his own little harem of five hens. Can anyone help me out, pleeeeease?

Im nowhere near Grand Rapids- but if she is needing a home and can get to Chicken Stock, she could come live here. My Frizzle wouldnt mind the company, Im sure. The Silkies RIRJen is bringing me

will be too small for my Frizzle to have for company for a few weeks.

My young Sizzle has hooked up with a pigeon...

they are inseperable. preen each other, look like one another, follow each other around. My frizzle has no friend now, neither does my female pigeon...

Workers at the Health Department called me- got my number from some rehabber...(heh heh what goes around comes around) and said that they had a duckling that had been attacked by adult ducks. Brought me this little baby mallard. Too small to put in with the other mallards I have. I didnt expect it to be alive this morning, but it is indeed. Peeping its head off. Its face is swollen, its eyes were swollen shut yesterday. I kept it warm, put some eye ointment on and waited it out- I thought its neck was broken, but its holding it upright now. Yay little duck. Lonely little duck. It is so super tiny. Just hatched.


I am going to finish cleaning out the swamp today. I mean, pond. I have only a couple inches of water...heh, SLIME left in it. Then I am going to rinse it out, straighten the liner, and fill it back up. Henry the Goose is rather sad that he doesnt have his pond. Tells me all about it as he is swimming in his pool.

My husband will be out of town and unable to attend Chickenstock with me. There goes my adult supervision, and once again, he will not be able to taste this wonderful dish that I have talked about all year.

I will be sure to fill him in again.

At last - SCHOOL'S out for summer.

We go an extra week to make up for the week we have off in February. Never makes sense to me - who wants to be in school an extra week in JUNE?

Hope to see and meet everyone at Chickenstock 1 week from tomorrow

Now to hit the deck with some coffee, then weed the garden, turn the compost, build a chicken run for the Welsummer babies, etc.ect.ect.
