Yeah, it was quite fun, I did alot of odd "preformer" jobs in college, I majored in theater and dance, then switched to education and chemestry. I've done musicals, several carnie jobs, magician's assistant, fire dancing. Problem with being a performer is you really need to love top ramen, as that's all you can afford to eat, while doing one seasonal job, you're in rehersials for the next.

Too cool. I cannot wait to meet you! One of my dearest friends has been in theatre and voice her whole life. She lived in NY for 17 years, then Florida and AZ and now lives in LA across from one of the big studios. What you say is so true, she lives hand to mouth between jobs. She toured with the Broadway show Oklahoma! for several years and has done stints on General Hospital and many other musicals. Her latest long job was doing the show Menapause the Musical for several years. Also worked at Disney World as the Fairy Godmother in the Cinderella show. She has so many stories to tell and has met so many famous people, I told her to write a book. I'll bet you and Lynne could talk for ages!

Yeah after having to *live* off theater wages for a few seasons, I decided perhaps teaching was more for me, espicially as I wanted kids, and dragging them about the country didn't seem to stable. (in retrospect mr saddi would totaly be game for this and we homeschool, as my uncle put it "you're so different you can't even send them to school?", well no, the local ones stink and there's no classes for high achievers.)

So... I've gotten three replies from my ads about the young roosters I'm selling for local pick-up or at Chickenstock. And they are ALL asking "What is Chickenstock?"

Next one I'm going to say "I'll only tell you if you come get one of these roos."

Would anyone near Grand Rapids, like to adopt my Belgium D'Uccle Mille Fleur, 2 year old hen? She is our last hen and is very tame. She is pictured in my profile photo. Thanks 61-634-1841

You sound like a lot of fun! I never had to live off of theater, but I was in various types of theater from 81-98. There are times I miss it, especially since i haven't been out of MI since 2001 (not counting the 3 weeks traveling while trying to sneak someone out of Canada lol LONG story). I worked with some children's groups for many years while I was teaching and to me that was much more rewarding than acting with a bunch of self absorbed adults! Not that all of them are, but so many thought they were better than they were and expected to be treated like royalty. If not traveling with theater or sports or church groups, I traveled a lot with my family because my health problems and physical limitations prevented me from taking planes. California is one of the handful of states I haven't been to but would love to some day. My whole family lives in either CO or WA and I seriously miss the ocean and mountains. As much as I complain about the snow and my docs are always telling me I shouldn't live here, I know I'd miss the 4 seasons.

I have a cousin, Michael David McGuire who has been in some big movies and he's a voice over instructor and radio personality in San Francisco. He's tried to get me to either write a book (because he publishes too) or do the voice over thing. I can't seem to have the patience to finish the book and one of my disabilities gives me serious stuttering issues. Then again, I might be better at that than this chicken thing

The hits keep coming for my batch of hatchery chicks. 2 deformed beaks, 2 deformed toes. The 1 roo and 9 hens is really 2 roos and 8 hens. One of the roos is not even the right breed. Never again, never again, never again.
