Not sure where everyone is located, but our 4-H club is also having one on April 26 in Charlotte, MI. Just south of Lansing, for those who are not familiar with where it is located. If it is closer, save some gas money and come on over! I have it listed under the swap meet threads.

You are welcome to bring things to sell too, we could use more sellers to support the 4-H kids. They want to buy new cages for their rabbits and poultry this year.

I was just scheming on how to get to both!!! I am going to have to save up some bucks for the gas money!
Guess I better stay away, I have NO willpower. And all those feathers

Anybody anywhere Detroit or Ann Arbor have a good place to get food grade de? I am having a hard time finding some. Or if anyone in another part of the state that gets to the Detroit or Ann Arbor areas wants to work something out. Let me know. Thanks

Hi all,

I have hatched a batch of chicks from our flock. They are basically mixed breed however, some will be purebred Marans and purebred Speckled Sussex, as I have both hens/roosters of those breeds.

My roos include Marans, Speckled Sussex and Barred Frizzle Cochins. (5)
Bantam roos include Mille Fleurs, Black Cochin,Partridge Silkie, Golden Sebright. (5)

Hens include Marans, Speckled Sussex, Isa Brown, RIR, SilverLaced Wyandottes, Cochins(black, blue, self blue, Most of the cochins are frizzles) Silkies(blue, blue splash, partridge), Polish(white and silver laced), Black Australorpe, Buff Brahma, Ameraucana, Mille Fleur. Some of these girls are bantams. So the chicks are mixes of all of these breeds. They were hatched on April 2nd.

Looks like I got some Sizzles out of the bunch but I am not going to part with them.

Most of these babies have turned out to be black or barred because 4 out of the 5 standard roos are black or barred. Some are standard and some are bantam. Some are frizzled. For the most part, I can not tell one chick from the other. I can venture some guess based on their color and characteristics. They are straight run. I have 24 to sell. I hatched them for the kids-so that they can experience the joy I get from seeing those babies emerge--who am I kidding, eh?-when you're addicted, you're addicted)
Anyway I am asking $2 each. The kids get to use the money for their 4-H fair entries this year.

I live in Clarkston.

I will post this in the sell section also.

Thanks everyone. Chicken people are the best. I don't think we're as strange as "dog people", do you???

Hi Cindy! I've been to Alger; a couple of my brothers-in-law bought their grandparent's farm a few years ago, they use it for vacations, and of course, hunting season.

Welcome to the group.

On 5/5 they should get in:
White Turkeys, Aracaunas, Red Star, a few Red Star roosters, Black Cayugla Ducks, Rouen Ducks.
On 5/12 they should get in:
Dominiques, Silver Polish, Mallard Ducks, Indian Runner Ducks, NHR's.
On 5/19 they should get in:

. Their number is 248-627- 3700.

KrisRose,

Glad you posteed the Hamilton's list. I was there yesterday picking up my Silkies and meant to post the Dominiques(I thought I saw that someone was asking for them) and the Crevecours(sp? I'm too lazy to pull out the the MMcM catalog to check spelling). They do not usually have those breeds. It's nice that they have some new birds every year-other than the usual meat and egg layers.

Has anyone been to the Imlay City Swap Meet? I can't make it to both and Imlay City is much closer than Charlotte. Just wondering about the number of birds there.
Are there a lot of people selling? I'm only interested in chicks.
