I'm sorry your day went so badly Kim. Sure wish there was something I could do to help. You are in my prayers. Thank you for saving the goose, he/she is a real cutie!

We love old tools. Today we went to a very large garage, yard, field or whatever you wanna call it sale. It looked like they owned a craft and tool store or something. Some stuff had been sitting in storage a while. They had two couches in a trailer (which is how we ended up going there...seeing the ad in craigslist for a free couch which we desperately need!) but everything else was neatly displayed.

Even though I can't crochet until my hand is fixed, I still collect yarn. Not like I needed any but I asked the lady how much for 3 good sized bins of expensive yarn. Got that for $10 (some of it I can re-sell for more than that on ebay!) and there was a box of tools, some still with price stickers on it. I asked the old man there how much. He looked at it, removed a paint pan on top and just said "Ehh, you can have it for $5!" WHAT? There were brand new wire cutters, staplers, painting equipment, an older drill that only needs a charger, screwdrivers (hmm someone keeps losing those lol), you name it!

Sold the last of my chicks today

Still need to re-home 5 ducklings, deal with what's in the incubator now and I'm done. If anyone else asks me for chicks I just can't do it.

For the first time ever we are out of duck eggs! Sold many chicken and duck eggs today!

The heat was just too much today. I'm glad it's over and it's finally supposed to cool off.

It was so hot we saw this deer standing in the swamp on the way to another garage sale. She was still standing there when we drove by again a half hour later!

Don't ask me why, but I wanted to go fishing despite not feeling well. It threatened to storm for a while, but then it cleared up

Love that antique church's steeple!

Woke this morning to a dog whining, wanting out. Got up, stumbled to the door, looked around, no dog. She was sound asleep on the couch. I must be losing it. Then I realized that it was an infomercial on television.

Since I'm awake I might as well start the day. Coffee is ready, and the sun is coming up. Two large tom turkeys just strolled across the backyard. Hard to believe just how large the wild turkey population has grown to. I remember when I was writing for the newspaper I went to cover the first release of turkeys in southern Michigan. Some folks believed that the stocking program was a waste of time, that turkeys needed vast woods to survive. Well they sure were wrong. Turkey numbers have grown to the point that in some areas they are becoming a nuisance.

I was outside earlier and is quite pleasant. If you have things you need to do now is the time. While not quite as warm as yesterday it still will be very uncomfortable by afternoon.

Been up since.. well. before the roos started crowing.. ALL 23 of them..

Went out checked the little "dudes" as I call them.. Spent some time looking them over. Pleased to find a few that are already larger then their sire @ 19 weeks.

No wild turkeys for me this morning.. Observations in my area are that the turkey population is on the decline. Not sure what the cause is, but I haven't seen any little ones this year yet either. And plenty of hens been in the backyard. A couple don't look like Easterns, marking look more like a Rio Grand or Merriam's. Not sure if some commercial breed might have gotten slipped into the local population. Enough people have free range turkeys that it wouldn't surprise me.

:: yawn :: Wow, I am usually up by now. The doggies must have been tired too because they didn't even rise when I got up. I had to coax them out the door this morning. Even the chickens were super mellow and didn't greet me with their usual chattiness. Maybe all the fireworks last night kept them up.

Well it looks like another beautiful day. Enjoy it everyone!

Well that was exciting! I hear a lot of squawking, look out the back door and my 2 girl dogs have a chicken trapped between them. Got out there as quick as this busted knee would let me and ran the dogs back into the house.

Found my crutches then went about rounding up the chickens, 1 in the coop, 1 in the garage and the last one on the outside of the ren fencing. That was the one the dogs were "playing" with. The good news is that all girls are fine, only one got a dog drool bath. They are all together again enjoying some mealworm treats.

If this is the way the day is going to be, I'm going back to bed. Or start drinking!

It's just too complicated to get pic on BYC. At least for me. I don't like computers and they confuse me.

FB you just tap and go!!
Turned out to be a bad day for me yesterday, also. Had my daughter, her hubby and daughter over which was nice. Like I said, we spent most of it in the pool and then went out for ice cream. Later, I went into the coop and one of my SLW laid there dead. She had worms, so I wormed eveyone last Thurs. Thought she was looking better. Then, this morning, I was giving the girls some scratch and noticed the blind SLW wasn't among them. Went in the bantam coop where she had put herself to bed last night, and there she lay... dead! How weird is that?? Both my SLW died withing hrs of each other. Everyone else looks fine... but this has me freaked.

Dont let your Homeowers know that your husband knew about the leak. Be totally clueless. Which you were.
