Since I've had to reduce my flock all I have left are 3 black sex links. They have adapted well enough I think, but I'm wondering about their behaviour.
One of the girls seems to have become the protector of the other 2. She is the one that the dogs were playing with this morning. She is the one that seems to be the boldest and most watchful. She is also the first to come to me when I go into the pen with treats but waits until the other 2 start to eat before she will eat for herself.

My question, is it common for a female to assume the role of a watchful roo?

Found out today that the lawyer called on friday, while I was getting my shots. Now I have to wait the extra day to see what's up. We already discussed a number, so hopefully it's good news (nothing like 106 in the desert to make a girl long to be snowed upon).
