My muskovy cross babies are growing so fast

I've had 9 hatch out of 15 so far. The other six aren't looking too promising but I'll leave them in the bator for another day or two. Today is day 22.

So ugly they are cute!

Oops, I meant the eggs haven't pipped. All the chicks that hatched are doing great.

They are really cute ducks - look a lot like Blue Swedish ducks, another beautiful duck breed.

I have 3 chicks that were hatched out by my daughters school in her classroom. These were mixes, between a silky-NN Roo or a Blue Wheaton Ameracauna Roo and BWA hen or EE hen. They are about 6 weeks now and I can't tell if they are for sure all Roos. Can anyone help please?

I HAVE to find homes for these stinkers! Well, unless I have a pullet in there

I was going to post the Hicks Farm web info, but LoveMyChicklets found it before I could get to it. I bought a 50 lb. bag from them for $35.00 this spring. I actually picked it up in Ann Arbor. The farm is a dairy that produces raw milk, and in Michigan it's not legal to sell raw milk--only legal if it's from your own cow. So several farms in Michigan offer "cow leases" or "goat leases" for a fee, and then you also pay a "packaging and handling" fee for each gallon you get that came from "your" leased cow. (It's all a bit silly since several states have made it legal with certain safeguards and testing to sell raw milk directly to the consumer, but Michigan is not one of these states...) Anyway, Hicks Dairy does deliveries of milk to several places every week or every other week, including Ann Arbor. I do not have a "cow lease" but I ran across their web site and they have other products, including the food grade DE (Fossil Shell Flour from Perma-Guard). It was very convenient for me as I am off work the day they deliver to Ann Arbor (Thursdays). You just put in an order on their web site before noon on Saturday of the week you want it. (For non-milk products, you don't have to sign the cow lease and pay the lease fee.)

Other places they have scheduled deliveries (besides Ann Arbor) are Clarkston, Royal Oak, Livonia, Brighton, Chesterfield, and St. Clair Shores. So if you are in need of DE and near to any of those places, check out the delivery schedule to see if it would work for you.

Oh, if you're in the Ann Arbor area but have to work on Thursdays, PM me--most Thursdays it would be no problem for me to pick some up and then meet up later...

Another option--the authorized distributor in Michigan for the Perma-Guard DE is John Smoll of Sturgis, Michigan. I called him two years ago to get my first bag, didn't really want to drive to Sturgis, and he gave me the name of someone in Detroit who was selling bags of DE he'd gotten from John... didn't keep that phone number, but John Smoll could tell you if there's a dealer closer to where ever you live... his phone number is (269) 651-1566. (The Detroit guy met me half way between Ann Arbor and Detroit, we did the deal in a McDonald's parking lot... living on the edge, driven to it by small feathered beings!!!

I need some clarification, please? When I look at this website I see the following:

Which one of these is DE?

The LIVE EARTH sounds like something you add to soil to make it better for growing as the web site says this:
Located in Emery Utah, we mine and manufacture humic and fulvic ingredients for agriculture, animal feeds, cosmetics, dietary supplements, bio-remediation, organic gardening, and lawn care. Humic acids are becoming a significant bio-stimulant to mainstream agricultural practices because of the many benefits that it contributes to the soil. Currently a crop is removed from the field and no plant material is returned to the soil. The humification process is hindered if no material is added and as a result the soil has reduced levels of organic compounds that will transition into humic acid. This process creates soils low in organic matter that may lack sufficient levels of humic acids to maintain proper fertilizer retention. Adding humic acid to a fertilizer program may help increase nutrient availability and retain the nutrients in the root zone.

If the FOSSIL SHELL FLOUR is DE, is it food grade? Non-food grade will kill the chickens.

I don't see anything where they refer to either of them Diatomaceous Earth or DE.

I live close to Chesterfield, so a pick up there would be great!
