I will have to take some pictures of the two hens I was talking about. My husband said the one didnt come from family farm and home but from a place in Chicago, a friend gave us a bunch of chicks one day and I had no idea what they were. the other one for sure came from FFH

Here is a pic of one of our roosters, can you identify what he is for me? we have been back and forth and just arent sure. we thought he was a phoenix but arent sure.

here is another one of the roo in question. His tail is much longer now, it got trimmed at the beginning of winter because icicles were weighing him down.

the orange around his neck has started filling in even more and getting longer and his tail is much longer, these pictures are at least a month to two months old. Hes a good roo, he eats out my hand and sometimes lets me pet him but hes not super lovey or anything. He does rule the roost though. I also have a blue laced red wyandotte roo who has his own hen he tends to and a white roo that was supposed to be a red hen (he came with the new hampshire reds, I guess as a packing peanut. lol I originally thought he was a white leghorn but now I am pretty sure he looks exactly like a rhode island white. could that be possible? I have tried several times to get a picture of him but he ALWAYS moves as soon as I click the camera ugh! I need to get more pics of them all. Apparently my becoming a chicken fancier has turned into a guessing game of sorts.

The pretty roo (pheonix or not) came from a livestock swap at the FFH stores when we were in Muskegon one day. I think I got him for like 5$ total score for me, hes so gorgeous. I am pretty sure that one of the eggs we just hatched is a cross of his, with a RIR. excited to see what it turns out to be!!

I agree about the roost, my girls tend to fill up the larger rods, but I have a problem with a few pullets jamming themselves into nesting boxes (seriously, like 4 in one nest box) and filling them with poo..blegh...any ideas on how to stop this? I have enough roosting rods for all of the kiddos in there but they keep doing this. Im so tired of cleaning the poop out of the nest boxes so the big girls can lay in a clean box instead of a toilet.
