Isn't funny how they know you're the mama and the dominate one. My girls come running up to me every time I come out into the yard knowing I always have some sort of a treat for them. I have 11 hens and 1 Roo, ranging 20 - 22 wks.old. They swarm me to the point that it is almost impossible to walk with out bumping into them.

If watching a chicken run does not make you laugh, there is something wrong with your funny bone. IMHO.
This morning I went out to let the Chickens out a bit earlier than normal. Well, Mr. Fluffers.... I don't know what got into him, but he got mad at one of his girls, fluffed himself all up, wings all out and he ran after her, stomped her, and no, not in the way... and kept running, and she retaliated by nailing him back! I was like, "WHAT THE HECK!" Rosie does not take any crap from him. It's kinda funny now thou when i think about it, seeing that big ball of hairy feathers running butt over teakettle after Rosie. LOL.
Well, Buffy was sitting in the nesting box today, so I looked to see... Nothing. How long does a molt take? I am hoping she's done. She doesn't look like she is molting anymore...
My silkies... OH man, I can't wait till they are out of the ugly stage... My buffs are losing all their head feathers, comb and wattles coming in... My babies aren't babies anymore.. teenage years...
I am thinking I might be having to get rid of a few of my cochin mutts. Anyone around Holland who needs a few2 month-3 month olds? 4 little blacks. I am certian that one is a roo, 2 are hens, and one a little iffy... I think he's a he... but could be a she. They are sweet little chicks, free rangers. I don't know how to multiply, cuz I realised I didn't build my coop big enough. I am about 12 sq feet shy of what I need to have... I realise that I can get away with a little smaller space for bantams, but still... I worry that they will get irratated cuz they don't have enough space. I can still use the tiny coop, I could seperate the silkies to that one, since I don't really want fav/silkie mixes... though that could be pretty... But anyway, 4 black cochin bantam mutts for 20 bucks.

Fecal checks have cost me anywhere from $13-20.00 and you don't even have to bring the hen into the vet, just drop a small sample of your chicken poop off at a vet who knows how to test.
The young new birds I have bought showed Coccidia in their poop.
They are lovely clean birds with no other parasites and they are now being treated for the Coccidia for 5 days. I will continue to keep them separate from my hen and then I will have the vet retest their poop in two weeks and see if he will give me the o.k. to put the hens together with my hen.
I am posting this so that whenever someone brings new birds into their flock, they will not only follow your advice on keeping them penned separately, but even if the chickens have no symptoms at all, it might be a good idea to check the poop for parasites. That one test can check for many parasites including gapeworm (the ones in the throat) and coccidia.

My neighbor, who wigged out on me in June, is having a rat problem at her house.
She just asked if I've seen rats at my house.
I wonder if she is going to blame my chickens for her problem.
I've seen no sign of rats. Had a mouse (1) in a trap 2 weeks ago. My feed is in metal containers and even my bird seed and squirrel food is secure, as it has been ever sine I moved here.
I'm cleaning out the garage right now and haven't seen any sign of rodents, so I think my property is good. But I will add some measures to mkae certain my feed stores are secure from pests.
Since I brought home the hay, I've decided to partion the garage with the bales to make a coop for the chicks and keep the hay dry. So no more smoking in the garage for me.
