Thank you.
I wasn't planning on doing homework tonight but I suppose I better get busy.
I can still watch the Lions while I type.

I just figured out how to do the srt by State.

I have a question for everyone.
My two new hens had coccidia. So I kept them boarded at the vet and treated with Albon.
Now they are home and in quarantine which makes them very unhappy.
The vet says I need to recheck the stool and possibly repeat the Albon treatment and continue with the quarantine.
He says coccidia can be a real bear to get rid of.
Can you all give me advice? Thank you!

My youngest bunch of chicks got cocci a while back. It was the first time i had to deal with this. They were already in their own pen but it just in the smaller area of my coop so the other chickens could still see them. I treated them for 10 days to 2 weeks with Corid added to their drinking water. After that they were fine. I just keep an eye on their poo and so far so good. This was probably two months ago or so.
Good luck.

Did you mix them with your regular flock? Or did you keep them separate?

They were already seperated, and still are, since they are much younger. They are still in the smaller part of the coop but they have all been free ranging lately. From what I understand they get it from the soil. I do plan on mixing them when they are a bit bigger.

Had a bit of a oh no tonight. I was in the chicken yard with everyone just checking them all out prior to them going in for the night and I decided to do a head count which is something I haven't done in awhile. Got to 17 for my big girls...wait that's not right, so I looked at each different breed. Ok, 5 RIR, 5 NH, 8 BR...wait that should be nine. So, I'm walking all around the yard and counting the BRs at different angles coming up with 8 each time. My heart was just sinking because I love my BRs. I was carrying one around with me, too, so I recounted starting with her in case I forgot to count her, but nope, still 8. So I go up to the fence and look around and under the deck at everyone when I suddenly see a head pop up from the dirt next to the house. My girls like to dust bathe under the deck next to the house and it appears the spot has gotten bathed in enough it has gotten kind of deep to the point you can't see them if they're in it.

LOL! I know all about dust holes now. My birds scratched up the grass from a few spots and made nice dust baths in those areas... They are now holes. I thought at first that Jace dug a hole or two, and he told me no, the chickens did it. So funny to see them all in them just chillin and rolling around.

I heard that too. There is an article about this in one of the chicken magazines that I read recently and it said it comes from bird droppings in your lawn. Also, if you have a bird feeder in your yard, you shouldn't let your chickens free range near it.
