Urghhhhh.....Yesterday my DH collected eggs around noon. Had one broken egg in the nest, the other 2 eggs where whole. This morning I go to open the door into the run and another broken egg. Looks like it was dropped from the Roost! Dumb chicken. The 2 on the roost below where sampling the drippings and tidbits of of shell that remained on the roost from the drop above......scream!! I've had this happen recently (find an egg under roost) a few times but what really gets me is the broken egg in the nesting box.

I have a naughty girl. This will be a challenge trying to pinpoint which one it is unless I actually see her do it or if she's wearing the evidence on her face!!
Once I figure out which one it is......Is there a way to break her of it?

Really hope it doesn't rain all day today! I need to get my coop raked out and cleaned. I am busy the next few days and would really like to get it done! Grrrrr! Plus I have to vacuum my truck, and the rain stops that too.

me too. today is coop cleaning day and boy does it need to be cleaned.

I want to do the same but it's not the rain that is stopping me.....it's the other things that REALY NEED TO GET DONE. I'm usually not a procrastinator but lately I've just had too much on my plate and have let the I'll do it later things go!
LOL....I just realized I took my DH to school with 2 eggs in my jacket pocket!!

good morning Michigan, foggy here but otherwise beautiful. Trees are changing, and fall is in the air.

Snowflake those are very pretty eggs.

Made up a big batch of green tomato relish a few days ago, and plan on another batch today - went out and picked all my green tomatos and ended up with a big bucketful. I hate to see them just rot away. The recipe was pretty good, but I am planning on a few alterations for this batch - a little lime juice, some garlic, and less sugar, along with a few habaneros. Also have canning tomatos to process, but first I am going to can some spicy tomato relish. A friend gave me the recipe and a jar, it was so good I just ate it right out of the jar.

Are the trees changing fast? I've got relatives in Charlevoix...thinking about making a trip up there in a couple of weeks.

They started up here around the 23rd....mostly the maples but the quaking aspens are starting now. It is suppose to freeze I think tonight, so that may bring it on faster...hard to guess as to when "peak" will be.

For years we've made this trip, always try to hit the Apple Fest that usually runs around the 2ND week of Oct. I think we've only had 1 or 2 trips where it was actually damp dreary weather. Never stops us though. Definitely always see some breath taking scenery to absorb!

Noisy hens this morning.
Broil is producing like clockwork and I think the others are getting close. Broast is starting to do the squat and allows me to stratch her back. Bake seems curious and watches intently. Maybe they will join the layer club soon.

The 2 buff orps (Crispy and Extra) don't seem to have a clue yet.
