Hillbilly Hen, I have 4 Ias Browns 3 Buff Orps, 3 Black Somethings and 2 OE Bantams. Like I said it's gonna be hard to nail the naughty one down. Thanks for the tip about the light. Makes sense to me. I know for a fact that I have a couple that lay real early and one that lays late in the day. I usually go out to the around 6:30 (earlier May-Sept.) and there's usually one in the nest. I frown on the mornings being so dark this time of year.

Hatching Update: ....still nothing yet ARG!! I am still waiting. Eggs are a-rocking though.
I got the coop all cleaned out before the rain started. Now its nice a pine fresh. I guess the run will have to wait. Here are updated pictures of the two Marans babies I got earlier this month:
the "boy" - check out his tail feathering.
the "girl"? - their combs are the same size. Hmmmmmmm

We have a young roo that I named T-rex....he is really odd and prehistoric looking and boy does he control the flock already. I'll post a pic as soon as I can get it off my silly phone.
wow so much time has passed...i just started my busy season at the office and will be swamped from now until April if it is a typical busy season. BUT thats all okay cause I love my job and its a bit more job security in this climate.
My RIR's still are not laying and that has been frustrating, but hey, they were free, and I dont know when they hatched this past spring.
I seen a few of you have lost some birds...UGH I better keep a close eye on mine, as I forgot to lock them up last night. just cause I dont see the hunters I bet they are out there and my chickens would be a target for some other critter out there.
Hope all is well and everyone is smiling even though its now fall, colder and gray outside, it could always be worse my friends.
