I would love the info-thanks!

Well, I have rehomed the roos. A lady came today and picked them up. She only had hens! How lucky is that, to pick only hens! I picked all the silkies, and I ended up with 5 roos and 2 hens! Well anyway, she's going to put a few hens to each roo in seperate pens after she gets them used to each other. EEK. I told her maybe she may only want 2 roos, but nope she wanted them all. Well, I guess that will solve any inbreeding problems. I so miss the sound of 6 roos all going off at one time... My mom hated it, but I loved it. They were all so distinctive. Now I only have 3 roos crowing and its just so quiet. I guess once Oscar is big enough to start crowing it will be 4. Its weird too now, not having so many chickens to wade thru. Poor Roger thou, he's always had his brother with him, now He has to integrate into the flock with the rest of the chooks. They are ok with him, as long as he isn't being a grand master jerk. Poor guy.

NOW here's the big question, how soon do you think I can put him in the big coop with Mr. Fluffers? I don't want him to be all alone in the dog coop he shared with his brother, and he is not to happy about the silkie girls sharing with him yet either, OR better yet, How long before I throw the silkie girls in with him? Should I give them a few days ranging together before I do? Or just throw them in tonight at bed time when they're less likely to be buttheads to each other? My big roo had no problem with the two other roos that went with Mark, they got on just fine and they were the same age as Roger. Or should I put Roger in the big coop and tonight and hope for the best in the morning? Mr Fluffers has already kicked his butt, sooo....

Funny you would ask that, today Shug did not take her babies outside exploring. She kept them under her a good bit. She has been a good first time mom considering she went broody three weeks after laying her first egg.

Thanks all for the wonderful comments on Shug and her babies. I have enjoyed watching her with them.

Prayers to Officer Slot's family and colleagues.

Today was nice fall day and I didn't get a lot accomplished even though I was up at 5am. My Dh and I took a ride to Orvin today to purchase a shed for my grain & stuff. DH found a guy there through a website ad who makes them on site at his place. The business is family owned & operated and they deliver for a small fee, which is worth it since my DH is so busy with his own business. This guy offers a variety of sizes and styles, finished or unfinished, shingled or tin roofs, vinyl sided, whatever you want he'll make to please.
Upon arriving at this place, I jump out of the truck and first thing I see besides the sheds on display are chickens, turkeys and a horse. Two hens where escape artists and grazing in the yard and one of them took a liking to me or was just curious because she seemed to always be following me around. They looked pretty scruffy and I assume they were going through the molt because the guy told me he wasn't getting as many eggs right now as he was few weeks ago.
Anyway, we have our shed ordered and it will be delivered in 2 weeks. I can't wait. I did make it clear to my DH that the shed's purpose is mainly to be a grain shed & storage for my chicken stuff. Knowing my DH, I could see the wheels already turning in his head......planning on storing some of his toys & things in there. I'll share the shed with his antique John Deere lawn tractor but probably not much more!

Today I gave a half dozen eggs to my neighbor who lives behind me. He is over 80 years old and really appreciated the gesture.
Made me feel good to share the bounty from my "illegal" flock.
