Hello All, I have seen some of the cool chicken costumes posted on here recently. If you will allow me I would like to brag about my DW. She is a self described craft dork. She decided to make our twin (almost three year old) boys chicken costumes and our 10 month old girl an egg costume complete with our Albright Acres egg stamp. Here they are from left to right, Cole, Reese, and Logan.

Here's a rear view showing the combs.

And finally a family pic. Me (Farmer Andy) and my DW Kate along with our brood.

And on a side note, my DW has a family blog that chronicles her craftiness, cooking, and generally takes a sarcastic look at our life. You can find the blog at www.thealbrightacres.blogspot.com. I would invite you all to take a look at our crazy life.

Farmer Andy! What a beautiful family! You are so blessed!!!

Olive Hill - I agree, the Michigan thread is wonderful and the chicken forum has some real nuts who dominate it!

Nova - Between now and Chirstmas is a GREAT time to get a cat a home! Lots of adoptions happening now. Let me know if you don't get him a great home and I'll help you. Also, I am so sorry about the loss of your father. I think losing a loved one is the hardest thing we face in our lifetime. Again, I am so very sorry.

Mom 2 em all- I cut a lot of meat and carbs from my diet. Focused on grains, veggies and fruits.

ChickwannaB - glad your nose was not SMASHED! Take care of yourself lady!!

Does any one know about pneumonia in chickens? My hen has responded beautifully to the antibiotic Amoxicillan. However I have read that the condition can become chronic and if that is the case we will euthanize the hen rather than allow her to suffer. I know time will tell but just wondering if anyone has faced this before.

Oh my, the flash backs of Krisrose, my hubby, and me putting in Kristin's horse fencing. She had a post hole digger, but it wouldn't go thru her clay too easily. It needed, well, more weight. So, picture me on top of the post hole digger, bouncing up and down to get it to dig down! Oh, my aching.... butt! My fat a$$ swas finally good for something!!

Might want to pm Krisrose and ask her how to put in fencing. Oh, my butt is no longer available to hard labor.

It was so funny. Post hole digger didnt stand a chance. It had to go to work with me running the tractor, Chickflick sitting on it and her husband Handy Dick pressing down on it. HaHa Even with all that the clay won sometimes. We would get a hole started then have to fill with water to soften the ground. That clay is like cement.

Stacykins- go to Premier1 website and get a fencing catolog from them. You will need H braces for the corners and they have alot of info on how to build fences.

Good morning Michigan,

After reading all the posts...I forget what and from who wrote the threads!

Keyt....sorry you have abdominal pain and hope they can fix you up. The coops look great!

Farmer...what great costumes and good looking family! I am NOT crafty or a seamstress......very impressive.

CkickwannaB and Stacykins...My flock is at 21wks. and 25 weeks. No squats...no eggs...still waiting. I've read that some are at week 30 with no eggs yet. We may be waiting until SPRING?!!

Good Morning everyone!

Fun weekend. I couponed for the first time. My DH is frightened becuase he knows how obsessive I can be about things. He's also fascinated so he indulges me.

I am a little groggy this morning, there was a thuderstorm last night and my mangy rescue was crying and keeping me up. My DH lay sound asleep so I got up to drug her. When I got to her crate I thought she unirinated but soon found out she was panting so hard she was sweating and drooling everywhere.

She finially calmed down and went back to sleep. Goodness she is a handful.

Anyone try that Thunder Vest? Getting up in the middle of the night with her is getting sooooo old. I should have kicked my DH out of bed but I was already awake from his snoring.

Those are awesome costumes and pics! I like crafts, but I just can't sew, so I don't do any clothing! Tell her great job! I am impressed.

We got the garage cleaned out and all the junk thrown out. We need a bigger shed! We have to store everything in the garage

I brought my quiet EE, and she just sat on my shoulder or on some logs while my husband cleaned. She is the one that just sits and watches. I wouldn't gotten away with that with my others. She could hear my new silkies scratching in the giant box they are staying in....lol She kept cocking her head trying to see where they were.

My silkies, were almost all black when I got them a week ago. They are getting more and more white on them. They are salt & pepper now! Their mom was white and dad was black. They look really cool. They are still getting used to us handling them. They are not really fond of being picked up yet.

Gloomy day, and I need to get into the doctor. I have been having hip problems for the whole year. I pulled tendons in my hips (belly dancing class and too much walking in the neighborhood) I have to stick to just the treadmill now. My right hip is killing me yesterday!

I have to get packing too, we are going to Branson, Missouri in two weeks and packing for a family of 5 takes a little while....lol
