Good advice. As a kid, I hated banties because ours were so mean to me (I was about 4 or 5 then). But here I am anxiously waiting for tomorrow so I can get 2.

Behaviour can vary within the same environment as I am finding out. Broil is dominant, friendly and nosy as all get out, follows me like a puppy. She lays a small egg in early morning. Broast is a reluctant follower and rather timid, she lays a large egg late in the afternoon. They all get the same food and care. Now those Buffs...some days they can't find the open door.

All being said, it's just being rude to be so ... rude. Would you like it Keyt if you posted that you wanted to see/give away your.. let's say, call ducks and someone came on saying that those are the dumbest birds ever, didn't know how to get in the pool by themselves... just hated that breed???? No, you wouldn't. Some times it's best to

Everyone has their opinions, but the smart ones know when to or how to express them.
Beautiful sunny day. Maybe a little crisp, but all it takes is the sun to make me smile and be in a good mood. Yes, I'm in a good mood....

Enjoy everyone.

Wow. This thread moved a lot since last night.
Had a good frost last night. When I tried to get water for the animals, I got nothing from the spigot. So now the thaw waiting game.

I wish we had a garage. Not just for that, but to keep my car in during winter. I had to get a different car this year and my last had a remote starter so I will have to go out every morning before leaving to clean it off.

Oh boy. My DH just had me email a friend about some bunnies. She's desperately trying to get rid of them and he wants 2. Anybody have good advice on their upkeep? I know nothing about how to care for bunnies.

I have a hutch in the chicken run. They share space. Bunnies love going in the coop and sharing scratch and goodies with the chickens. When my chickens free range, I close up the pop door run door and let the bunnies have the run during the day. Have the big door open for the chickens to go in to lay and eat, etc. A couple of hrs before dusk, I put the bunnies back in their hutch with a treat and open up the run for the chickens. Bunnies go in without any problems. This has worked for the past 2 yrs.

STOP FIGHTING! Yes, I yelled that. Back off to your respective corners, folks. I already have a headache and you won't like me when I'm in pain. Some folks need to learn when not to respond, rather, to report if something doesn't seem right here on the forum. Chill, please.

Just curious as to why you feel that ISAs are awful birds? I have 4, they started laying around 20 wks and I get an egg a day from them.
Is there something specific or you just don't like the breed.

To each their own! Ours were dumb and huge bullies. 5 of them were bullies anyway. I was more than willing to give mine away too like that ad but I was trying to raise money to go to chickenstock. Aric is the one who works with the chickens and I work with the ducks. He cursed the Isas all day long. We even said the main reason we got them is because people loved them so much. Then we found out our neighbor got rid of hers too for the same reasons. No one would take them when she was giving them away (she had 7 and a rooster) so she sent them to freezer camp.

Ooo time to turn on the pellet stove for the first time this seasons, it's sooo cold!!!

I know everyone prefers certain breeds over others, at least I do. Anyway, I was just curious as to why/reasoning. I thought maybe you knew something I didn't....like if they were notorious eggs eaters or had a tendency to be sickly. I am surprised that yours were such low layers because I've always been told they were great producers and mine have been doing their job daily.

I have always heard nothing but good from people who raise/raised them. That is why my DH & I decided to get a few. Like I stated in my previous post before everyone prefers some breeds over others and I respect that...that is their choice and decision. I love this thread, love all the knowledgeable people, love all the quick replies to "Help Me" questions and I respect everyone opinions and advice.
