I hope that people are not discouraged or frightened by talk of parasites and infections. We get together here to help each other out good times and bad. Remember that knowledge is power. And that most well-kept chickens are very healthy, despite possbile exposure to parasites and infections.

BTW coccidia are species specific, so each kind of animal has its own that can not infect another species.

Love all the great pictures keep them coming!

I have only had them for a few weeks, and I have not been able to interact them yet. Too busy building the coop, and working at a farm milking cows. I really like the roo's crow, the crow is 4 seconds long, but he is still young. They are a year old, and are finishing the molt. I have not gotten any eggs yet, I think the eggs are tinted in color, if not white. I have named the friendliest hen ''Wyentte''.

She is the first to come to me when I go in their pen, and kinda lets me pick her up. Man oh man, their feathers are so soft, and very colorful when the sun shines on them. Wyentte told me that they would lay for 3 weeks, then stop for 3 weeks, then will start again for the next 3 weeks, and so on. Weird? I know, I will have to see for myself on that.
Here is he crowing-

He crows mostly in the morning, and is quiet most of the day.

Nice pics Farmboy! That scovy sure is a looker! What color is it? I have a flock of 4 and am totally addicted to them. At first I thought the carnucles were so ugly but now I love them. Mine are all named after Mexican food! My chocolate pied drake is Flan. My black duclair pied hen is Chimichanga. My lilac duclair pied hen is Quesadilla and my new blue pied hen is Fajita.

And no, I don't plan on eating them!

I have never had Muscovy ducks before, and am really liking them.

So, I have a pair of Muscovies to start a flock.

Learn something knew all the time on here. They lay for 3 then off for 3...interesting. Might have to research that when I get time, probably some genetic factor handed down through ancestry & breeding or something. If anyone one knows I'm all ears/eyes.

Farmboy, you'll love them. The drakes are full of personality and the hens are so sweet and dainty. I'm thinking of letting my girls hatch out some ducklings to sell at chickenstock next year. You let me know if you need any black, chocolate, blue, or lilac for your flock!

Top one's me, sorry for the fuzz; i guess you can truly call me fuzzy now! I'm older than i look; just turned 33 this year.

This here's my hubby, with this year's buck. He was so proud, it was the biggest 8 point he ever got.

These are my crew, minus tiny rose (bantam black cochin) and the stowaways that migrated from my neighbor. The big glowing thing is my "droppings board" under the perch, backlit by the sunset.

Sorry i didn't do an intro before!

Thanks,

The female wants nothing to to with me, so spooky.

But the male is a bit mellow, doesn't try to get away as bad as the female. But he is huge!

And he was only hatched this year! The female is still very young, so she still have lots of more growing to do, I think.
