Crocks or my barn boots for me today....yayyyy. Wait, that's what I always when I'm not working!!!

Heifer International is a wonderful charity. My cousin who lives in Montana use to work for the MSU extension, in public relations....don't know what his title exactly was but the job was stressful at times. He dealt with the ranchers, farmers, 4-H committees,
livestock committees/boards, Ag reps. etc....on a daily basis. Of all the numerous charitable programs that are available for people to donate to Heifer International was one of the charities he favored & recommended....a wonderful out reach program. Yeah...I know the people who head the program need to get paid for all their time & effort but it's just exciting to know that we are helping someone, someway attain some basic knowledge to better their future and the future of others in their community.

As for frozen water, mine was fine. I have water in both the coop and pen. The water I have in the pen I remove every night. I need to hook up my heated water. I can't decide whether to place it in the pen or the coop. They don't seem to drink the water hanging in the coop.....if so it's minimal....I feel better knowing that they have plenty. Their pen is covered and wrapped in 6mil. plastic so I was thinking of putting the heated one in there. Any advice welcome.

Never wore heels. Hated them. I was too much of a tomboy to ever wear them.
The wind has stopped and the sun is shinning!! Wonderful day for a walk with the dogs!! They sure did enjoy it, especially the off leash part! Lil Milo has so much energy. He just ran back and forth. Now he's napping.
Well, enjoy your day. Gotta get going and start planning for Turkey Day!!

I'm going to keep my water in the run on a heated base. I don't like to keep food or water inside the coop. The water gets full of shavings and the food gets wasted. It's much easier to clean the coop and keep it clean if they only sleep and lay in it. I've heard some say never keep food and water in the coop and others say never keep food and water in the run. I guess it all depends on what is easiest for you. I have never seen mice or any type of rodents in the coop or run (yet!).

Hi everyone!!

I know I haven't been here in a while because I've been busy or sick. But I come here asking a favor.

A friend of the family is in trouble. Not by any fault of his own either. Read this short article and you can get the story..

http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/...rs-Leslie-couple-wonders-where-they-will-live

I ask that anyone write to the Leslie school board and tell them basically, shame on you. Theresa and Werner have lived there for OVER 40 YEARS!!!

Werner and Aric's little brother Ethan are friends. Ethan is an Eagle scout and Werner helped him earn those rewards. Long story there but these are very sweet people who don't deserve this.

Any help is appreciated!!!

I was shopping at the mall.

My bro-in-law is getting married in 3 weeks and we still had to get shoes, accessories, and a dress for my youngest. Chose the big mall in G.R., but they didn't have a great selection at all so had to go to the smaller mall. Came home with only half of what we needed.

I need to pick up my pace because I don't even have the gift yet and it's going to be here before we know it. I have to say this is getting very frustrating...

Did you try Nordstroms Rack? They have really nice kids shoes and for accessories, I would definately hit up Burlingtion Coat Factory, TJ Maxx and Target.

Burlington also carries those Disney Princess dresses that are SUPER cute. For a photoshoot for my niece, I found a dress (burlington), sweater (burlington, accessories (nordstroms), and shoes (nordstroms) for my niece for under 50 bucks. (the dress was only $20)

Good Luck!

Edit for Clarity: The dresses are called Cinderella dresses not Disney Princess and Khols carries the brand too.

I have poop free waterers, the ones with the nipples, so pine shavings aren't a concern at the moment. I do have a small tin feeder mounted to the wall (prevent spilling) inside the coop and that isn't a problem either because it's small and they eat it all. Now my heated waterer is also hanging but doesn't have the nipples so maybe in the pen would be better. Less chance of messy water and less chance of it being bumped & spilling on the coop floor due to the chickens trying to get up/down from the roosts.

Keyt....what a sad story and a terrible thing especially after all those years. Some people think only about the business they are conducting and don't care who gets hurt in the long run just as long as it's not them. You think that after all those years they would of had the courtisy to comfront them WAY sooner than they did. It's obvious this project was in the making for quite sometime. Prayers for a happy ending.

x2. Plus I am too tall.

I keep my feeder hanging inside the coop all year round. the water goes inside on a couple cement blocks and heated base in the winter only. I had to rig a cardboard thing above the waterer to keep the hens from roosting on it and pooping in it.

I really need to buy some lower heels. All I have in the closet are 3 1/2+ inchers and that was okay back when I wore them everyday to the office, but I don't anymore and now when I want or need to wear some I about kill myself trying to walk 5 feet. That or I need to start wearing them more often again. That just seems like too much work though.

HEELS?? what are those? I've worn nothing but Birkenstocks for the last several decades. Seriously?? Haven't been in heels since 76 in my sisters wedding. I do't think I could walk.
