I can't think of any "Ross"...maybe DH knows him. If he belongs to the Sportsmans club or attends the Fife Lake United Methodist church....we'd know him. We used to work at the American Legions monthly fish fry but haven't for a while.....still a lot of people recognize hubby from there.

Snow covers the ground here...but not much.

really dumb question coming...
ok the run I built is only 8x7. I know, small. I just wanted a covered area so they can go out but stay off the snow if they want. By no means is this run predator proof, just a covered area. So now for the question, should I put some roosts in it? Its only about 5'9" inches tall. I don't have to take tall people into consideration. Lol. I was thinking maybe a few larger branches across the corners...

I'd put something in. I've got a dog house that they roost on, a couple of 2x4's , and a couple of branches.
Good frosty morning!! Trees are white again, and everything just melted off of them yesterday. Oh well, well, have a good day...

It's gonna a long winter if my chickens don't get use to the fact that snow is here for a few months. Opened the door into the run and they stood there looking out for the plank board had a dusting. The rest of the coop is snow free. I always let mine out early into the run and them let mine free range later in the afternoon when someone is home. Fingers crossed hadn't had a problem with predators....yet!

Nova...I'd put a roost or two in the corners like you were thinking. Won't take up a lot of space and it'll give you room to move around when you go in there.

It's off to work I go. Hopefully my chickens will enjoy the day in pen!!

Several times I have posted asking that everyone avail themselves of the link to nominate our members for the special awards. It's great to see our members getting the recognition they deserve. Congratulations Olive.

No snow here yet, go figure. I open the pop door early before I leave for work, and the girls (and boy) come out whenever they are ready into the run. Can't wait to see what this new batch thinks about snow

. 2 early eggs this morning, and I managed to not put them in my coat pocket - hand was heading in that direction with them though.

No snow here. I snowed some yesterday melting as it landed, it caused some excitement and disappointment, my son is impatient to get out the snowmobile!

I gave up and tossed my two wild boy roosters in the little coop by themselves. Things are much calmer but I still don't know what to do the boys.

I too had to check out all the chicks to be had at my pet chicken. However I sat down and decided how I want to separate flocks for the next year and what breeds I really want. On the order for the next year will be Spangled Russian Orloffs (I've been trying for more than a year to get some!), Bantam Salmon Faverolles, Bantam Frizzle Polish and Narragansett Turkeys. I also will be hatching some of my own Welsummers, Large Fowl Polish and maybe some crazy barn yard mixes! I'm also trying to decide on Quail for eating, having never eaten a quail I'm not sure if I want to try. I'll take any imput if anyone has experience with any. I still haven't decided whether to incubate or buy chicks. So fun picking out chicks, and then reality strikes and you realize you can't have them all!

Good morning! Its another sunny day! We got a dusting of snow and rain last night, had the scrape the ice snow off the windshield before going to work at 4:30 am. Brrr

AngelaB- That is a very nice looking steer!

Anyone know of any elevators, or places I could order chicks through? Someplace I don't need to order a ton of them? I would like to pick them up rather than ship (due to shipping costs)

Don't know where your located? I use Chelsea Feed/Farm supply on Jackson street. they ordered my Geese through Metzger's and took delivery for me.
