such a happy day! Grand kids are so good and loved everything they got. Grandson # 2 got 3 books. turned out he has read them all, I think mom forgot to check with him before she put them on his list. Younger girls got build a bears from aunt and while the adults were playing the gift draw game they went into another room and built their bears with no help from any one. I wondered why they were so quiet. older sister helped the younger 2 even found needle and thread and sewed them up. All had a good time.We leave the decorations up for another week or 2 kind of hate taking them down. Chickens enjoyed the nice weather and got to free range most of the day. Hope you all had a great day also. Nice to have tomorrow off,

Happy holidays to all

It's so hard to keep on this thread, but here's to hoping all the chicken-keepers in Michigan had a great holiday.

DBF and I spent the majority of the day rearranging furniture. Not exactly how I expected to spend our first Christmas together, but in a way it was kinda healthy changing things around from my old life to create a new one with him.

Usually I just lurk, actually I lurk every day!! lol. But want to wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas. Wishing you peace, hope and much love this coming year.

Good morning, Got a lot done already this AM got to sleep in an extra hr., that was nice. I got the Small-Scale Poultry Flock (book) by Harvey Ussery, can't wait to read it. so tired last night only got through the reviews, foreward and Acknowledgments,Plan some interesting reading. Enjoy the day, looks like a nice one.

Kind of an odd start to the morning...All 6 hens were out in the run (normal), I go to the garage (normal), mobbed by the hens (normal), find 3 eggs (still warm)...the odd part is nobody is talking...didn't hear an egg song, didn't get the clucking and cooing as usual. It is strangely quiet here.

My DH said the same thing this morning Raz. He came in and said it was beautiful but strangly quiet when he went out to the chicken coop this morning. Maybe they are praising the sun of this nice morning.

None of mine wanted to come out this morning (although my little roo did stand in the pop door and crow at me).

Grammi, nice to see you, I often wonder if you are around much - as the OP it is nice to see you check in on us

I think Nugget (bla) wants to go broody. No egg from her but she sat on the nest all night. She was outside early but went back in and was sitting again.
I took her off the box and put her by the water, she drank like a camel at an oasis.

Slow day on the forum...

Yep, Orps love to go broody, and impossible to break them. Both my blue orps are broody. One of my buttercups is going thru a hard moult. Poor thing is practically naked. Dh is taking down the outside Xmas lights. It's a good day to do it. Suppose to get cold and snow tonight.
A beautiful day outside. Sun shinning and the chickens are all out free ranging. Had a panic attack today. My lil bantam polish always stays in the fenced area of the yard to "free range". I took the dogs for a walk and came home and couldn't find her! OMG! Looked in her coop and the big girls coop. Found her free ranging with the big girls in the next door neighbors yard. What a relief! Chased her back to the fenced in yard.
Gosh, Christmas is really over! All that shopping, all that cleaning, all that wrapping and all that cooking. All the kids here and grand kids eating all that food. Paper every where, toys all over, and now it's quiet. Not yet clean, but quiet. It was nice to have all that noise and laughter. My family was here and we enjoyed each other's company. Now it's quiet. Until next year.....
