I ran into one of the teachers from the local elementary today. She has chickens and expressed to me that she would LOVE a rooster. Ha! Guess who got a rooster today?

I even gave him my signature wash and fluff before I dropped him off. After he passes the quarantine period he will have 6 girls all to himself....once he get's into his manliness.

Here he is giving me the stank eye...he wasn't as keen on the bath as the girls have been. He's only about 12 weeks but I think he'll be super handsome when he fills out.

It's not my Orp...It's one of those rotten bantams that you forced upon me.
Maybe I should give her a couple of JG eggs. Wouldn't that be a hoot seeing that little hen hatching out peepers bigger than she is.

That rooster looks GRUMPY!
But wait til he sees the cute girls that make up his harem, I mean flock!
What type of hens will he be with?

Yes, he was a bit grumpy. I had to leave him in the bathroom a couple times on his own and he started whining something fierce. (so cute) She's got a mixture of BR's, SLW, and EE's.

they are all look plumpy, healthy, and with 3 acres to free range. He'll be very happy.

All was not quiet here. Just after 4:30 this morning I hear something, I nudge my hubby, "Is that coyotes howling?" He listens and says "yeah, they must be in the backyard." His back is out so I get up to check. It is NOT coyotes it's just the lovely ROOSTERS crowing! Their light comes on at 4:30 and I guess they decided everyone needed to get up with them. Normally I don't even hear them unless I am listening for them, but not this morning they were in rare form.

My netting is starting to come off the top of the run. It was my intention to take it down the first big snowfall, well we haven't had snow so it's still up. Well, partly up, my son thought he would help and took down a corner, so about 6 chickens have been getting out on their own and then stand around waiting to be let in. Almost everyone ended up outside today even though our wind has been horrible today.

I spent the day inside sewing, a wonderful chicken project that is almost done. I'll share when I'm done!

Thank you. I am a care giver and the last two years have been crazy. I unwind each evening reading our michigan column.
Normally don't have much to say, but learn a lot here. Thank you all. You keep me sane, well at least a little closer to sane than
insane
