None of mine wanted to come out this morning, either. Reason? The 6 bantams I have wouldn't let them! Mr. Peanut and Gomer headed up the trouble-makers as usual.

Every time one tried to come out, one of them would rush the poor girl and peck her. It's so weird when they do this. They only do it every so often, but they see each other every day so you would think they would all be okay with each other. Of course, Mr. Peanut even tried to get me, too. I was looking in at the girls and heard a rustle behind me. There he was all huffy and challenging. I was 'oh, really?' because I just think it's hilarious he does it to me when I'm so much bigger than him, and once I turned fully to him, here came Gomer running towards us to help his comrade. Silly little guys.

Taprock, you are talented and I can't wait to see the finished project. I'll never be able to do anything like that. I can't even knit! I can cross-stitch, though, but haven't done it in years.

Thanks for complements, I was really trying to get the chickens as close to real as possible. Don't think I'll win - I love to though it's a big prize - enough to build a HUGE chicken coop!

Yes,

The only chickens I recognize is the silkies, there are polish, looks like an americana, and a blue Marans maybe?

There is a silkie on bottom left and 3 Polish in the middle bottom. Americana on top second from left, no Maran.

There is also an EE/Polish, Welsummer, Cochin, Salmon Faverolle, and Sizzle in there.

Here are the few pics I took. It must of been something in the air because my Roo had an attitude today also. He was strutting around, head up high, ruffling his feathers. He even tried to mount one of the hens in front me.....I thought, Not Happening Buddy!! The first pic is of him getting ready to bulk at me.

Mine too! Bout a week of it so far.... I wonder if they think it's spring already or something??? It's kinda mean but i've been noticing how behaved the crew is next door since they got tied up and thrown in a sack..... I had chalked it up to all those strange roosters crowing next door but now i'm wondering. The girls are back to laying, so maybe it's a protective thing? Surprised the heck out of me but he jumped in my lap while i was holding the new rooster yesterday. I protected the newbie's head with one arm, and he sat there for some time cuddling my other one. I enjoyed it, but i think i aged a little!
Btw, are favorolle roos supposed to have extra toes? the only thing i know about the breed is that they lay tinted eggs and are supposed to be affectionate. (what the hatchery book claimed anyway) This guy is the same size as my big guy, and he don't even have his spurs in yet!

Taprock, that is awsome!!! I would take pics of the little frizzles, most people have never seen chickens that are so un-chicken looking...I never knew there were so many fancy chickens out there till I came to BYC, even the catalogs show mostly normal chicken breeds....can't wait to see it when it is finished. I love quilts but don't have the patience to work on anything bigger then baby quilts. BEAUTIFUL

I don't know much about minks but I know my friend inherited a farm earlier this year and it one time was a mink farm and I guess a bunch of them got loose. She had 3 baby peacocks hatch and one by one they disappeared and then a duck disappeared. We chalked it up to the mink.
