Thanks Stacykins,
I'm formatting it like this:

Date # of Layers Eggs Today Daylight Hours
1/11/12 5 5 9:19
1/12/12 5 3 9:21

You don't need to provide the daylight hours, I can calculate that on my own using your location (City or Township). I think I'll cut off the data after 10 weeks or so. How about 5/20, that's the first day of spring.

Don't worry if that seems to be too long, you can do as much or as little as you want. Each day and location is a specific data point that stands alone. More data points gives my analysis more power.

Thanks again.

ETA The only caveat is that I need folks who only use natural light. No artificial lights on timers, please.
PM your location so it stays private.

Raz, do you want us to give you the totals every day or just once a month. Do we post them here or in a PM?

Whatever is easiest for you, dear. If you PM the info I can cut and paste it a bit easier I think. But post it here if you want to brag about your production.

ETA, it would probably be easier if you just e-mail a copy of your spreadsheet. My addy is [email protected]

Raz, I just realized that you said no lights on timers. I guess I'm out then since I have a light come on one hour before dawn. If I didn't they would drop eggs on the poop boards.

You should probably also only include chickens who are exposed to the full length of the day's natural light. In other words, there either needs to be large, plentiful windows to let in the light or the owner needs to have the coop open and chickens out at daybreak and not shut them up for the night until it's dark. Letting them out late or putting them up early can make a big difference.

I'll definitely format it the same way, thanks for showing how you are doing it :D

My girl have no artificial lights. I considered it, but it would be a hassle to illuminate their coop.
