Not snowing here yet and I hope is doesn't till next winter. Poop, guess we're supposed to get 1-3" tonight and tomorrow.

Today while I was on the computer which faces the large kitchen window, I saw a big white something fly low to the ground and land on the road. At first I thought it was a swan but realized it wasn't THAT big. I ran to get my shoes on and took off down the driveway because whatever it was would get hit by the cars that fly by on my road. By the time I got halfway out to the gate I could see that it was a big gray and white Muscovy. I got out and shooed him/her off the road and tried to get close enough to catch it. Gave up on that and went back to the shed to get my net. By the time I got back out to the road it was ON the road again and heading toward the gravel pit driveway. I probably should have just let it go, but the redneck a$$es who live around here think they get points for every living creature they can run over, so I couldn't just walk away from it. Not sure how many points they get for a Muscovy. It turned around and started going back the other way ON the road with traffic coming. I started walking faster behind it and it got enough speed up to take off and flew smack down the middle of the road toward an oncoming car. I started waving my arms and it moved toward one side and made a right turn into a lane that leads into the woods beside the gravel pit. It was off the road and I didn't feel like chasing it in the rain, but I hope it made it to the water and didn't get stuck in the woods where something will get it. Last night when I let the dogs out for the last time around 1:45 a.m. the ducks over in the pit were raising a ruckus, so I'm sure a fox or coyote was after them then. I've never seen a Muscovy close up and didn't realize they could fly, but this one was big, so it was probably a drake. Hopefully those wings will keep it safe.

Tap - Love that torpedo egg!

Don't remember who made the bread, but it looked delicious!

Still not loving this format, but I guess I'll get used to it. Gotta play around with color to make it more interesting.

When we had Muscoveys they roosted way up in a walnut tree at night. They never had any predator problems and our nighttime predators are plentiful. Hopefully that one fares as well as ours always did.

I took DD to basketball practice a little after 6 and it was snowing pretty good out there; big, wet flakes. I just stepped out onto the deck to find it's mostly stopped though. We probably have more than an inch out there now but a lot of it has melted into the muddy ground on impact. Unless we get quite a bit I don't see it lasting very long -- especially since high 30s and low 40s are in the forecast again next week. No complaints from me on that!

Tomorrow morning I'm gonna be popping duck eggs into the incubator for the first time! Pekins! Very much hoping for healthy ducklings in about a month! Most of them will be raised for eating, but I am going to keep a few girls 'cause they're all ducky and adorable! I'd rather not have any drakes getting randy with my chickens, though!

Snow keeps falling all around!

I think after a week or so, we will all have this figured out, and will like it well enough.

No, I have not seen chicwannaB for several days either. :/

Well, I have sick changos here, and feeling queasy my self yet... Ugh.

Have a great snowy nite all. Drive safe for all those who have to go out before the plows do.
