Oh no...I've been gone too long off of here and everything has changed! AH! Have I mentioned I hate change...cause I do lol
Anyways, I need help...my silkies have all been doing good and lookin' nice. Well today I went outside to feed/water all the critters and one of the silkies was sitting in the corner between the feeder and the wall of the coop and I thought it was that darn naked neck hen trying to be broody outside of the nestbox and when I went to grab it up I realized it was one of my white bearded silkie roosters. He has some type of wry neck or something. I've never seen anything like this in chickens. His poor little head is twisted downward and around and close to his body. He was fine yesterday...or at least I didn't notice anyone acting weird yesterday but it was cold so I pretty much threw in some feed and water and ran back to the house....but I'm sure I would've noticed him in distress because I always do a head count. Any ideas? My husband wasn't home to put him down so he's in a cat carrier in the other coop so he's not in with the other birds.
Go back a couple of pages. Don't be so quick to put him down. It might be a condition that can be remedied with vitamin E and selenium. I'm still looking for more real science behind the condition so I can't claim to be an expert here.
