Well winter has arrived and with it the noise of the snowmobiles. They go flying through our back field at all hours of the day and night. They are noisy but I can live with it although the groups of 25+ are a bit loud. What makes me a little upset is the dumb ones that have to come through the side yard, over my garden that has perennials in it, over the drive way and next to the house. We live next to a cemetery that is fenced so they think they can get through on the front side instead of following the trail blazed by everyone else. However..... my son is thrilled because DH fixed his up so he has been riding.

We have a dinner tomorrow and I think I will go bake a pound cake to use up some eggs. I found a recipe on a thread that I think I will try. I don't have a good sauce or topping recipe so I think I'll pull some blackberries from the freezer and make something up with them. I gave away 3 dozen eggs today and still have about 7 more in the fridge. I really need to put out my egg sign but too much snow and too lazy to fight with the frozen ground.

Do you guys have all electric houses or something? Those bills are nuts. I've got Consumers and this month's bill was less that $200, yeah I have wood heat and a gas stove and dryer but geeze. I do have a heat lamp and an electric dog dish for water in the coop. And lots of electronics. I don't know, maybe my bill is high, too? I know my parents had huge bills in the winter but their house was all electric and was in MA which overcharges everything. OUCH.

Hey Olive!

I have a question.

I have raised Chinese geese before, but had to get rid of them last year due to disease, but I want to try raising geese again. So I ordered 8 White Chinese geese with Wynette, she wanted 4 ducks but did not want to pay the small order charge, so we are sharing the shipping cost. Anyway, I plan to keep the geese with the steer calves that we have, and a family cow that we will get in Spring, also possibly some hair sheep too. Can the geese live with the cattle okay? They can clean up after the cattle and have 24/7 access to the pasture. I want to keep the feed waste to the mim, and I finger that the geese can do the job. I will not give the geese any grain at all, they can eat whatever falls out of the cattle's mouths. Thanks.

they sure ARE crooks....my hubby worked for them over 25 years. They have now dinked around for over 6 years on a workmans comp case which has YET to go before the judge. Hubby retired finally a year ago.

Agreed on them being crooks though. I made a complaint about our meter four years ago. Took them two just to send me a letter saying they refused to investigate. Still haven't. Four years ago our bill shot up and has stayed up. But what are you going to do? They've got you bent over and handcuffed down and they know it.

Yes my house is all electric BUT we do not turn the electric heat on in the winter except my bedroom because I can't afford to get sick. We use propane heaters in the winter. Even in the summer my bills are between $400 something to $500 something. And like I said, there is only 2 of us.

Oh but owe them a penny and they are threatening to shut your electricity off !!! The sad part is like Olive said. There is nothing anyone can do.

Q am really tempted to move Skeeter to the dog coop with Leila, but I do not know if that is a good idea... They are due a week apart... Will it cause fighting? I am almost thinking it might be better for her if she were inside the garage... Opinions please?
Nova,

I would recommend NOT putting the broody with another broody due a week earlier.
My experience is that the broody gets off her eggs after the other broodys' eggs hatch- leaving her nest and eggs behind.
That's what has happened TWICE with me- and how I got the pterodactyl/ velociraptor baby.

The coop page looks normal to me. If you click on the "preferences" button on the bottom of this page, it opens another window.

Maybe that will help. I hope so.
