Mom2 - what a brilliant idea to use the handfeeding formula from the pet store on Beeper! If she has beak trouble she may not be getting enough nutrition.

You are certainly doing all you can for her and hopefully she will respond to the love and care!

thank you! I have always used handfeeding formula for the little orphan birds people like to dump on me- so I figure if it works for a sparrow, it should work for a chicken..

I am bummed... Or maybe just impatient. None of the babies under Leila have hatched yet. Today is day 22... They looked good yet on day 18... think maybe since it is so cold, they may need a little longer? How much longer should I leave them? I want to give the eggs from Buffy as much time as is possible... I so hope to get some Buffy Babies... As for Skeeter, she seems to be doing good... Her eggs are like, smoking hot. She plucked so much of her feathers out of her underside. LOL. Hope at least one of Leilas eggs hatch... I'd hate to have her be there all this time and none of them hatch...

Sneak out there at dark-thirty, with a small flashlight, and candle them.

She is just precious!

thank you.

ha ha ha ha! Don't you hate it when you are so tired and out of sorts that you can't even remember the one thing that would fix it? I hope you get it soon before you loose what's left of your sanity

I myself turn into an entirely different person in such situations.......

Mom, you will be in my thoughts.

I am hoping she is worn a little from having that playmate. I think what you are doing sounds like a good idea. Sometimes when you don't feel well and aren't eating, food is the last thing you want but what you need the most. Probably after a little bit of actually having a full belly she'll get used to it and eat on her own.

they were only together long enough for me to snap a picture, then i handed her to my daughter.
BUT, I am hoping she will snap out of it.

Waiting for chicks to hatch is definitely an exercise in patience. Whether it's an incubator or a broody hen the wait can become rather tedious.

One of the biggest problems encountered by folks hatching chicks with an incubator is open it to check the chicks or to remove newly hatched chicks. From the time they first hatch chicks can go 3 days without food or water as long as they are kept in the incubator. Just leave them along and let the others hatch.

With broodies problems arise with people start becoming overly concerned about the hen. They figure because they haven't seen the hen leave the nest that she might die if they don't intervene. This is highly unlikely. As long as they have access to food and water, they will leave the nest when they require it.

Just made Peanut Butter Bars for dessert tonight...taught my girls how to make them, so now I suspect they will be a regular in my house. lol.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 4 tablespoons peanut butter

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together the butter or margarine, graham cracker crumbs, confectioners' sugar, and 1 cup peanut butter until well blended. Press evenly into the bottom of an ungreased 9x13 inch pan.
  2. In a metal bowl over simmering water, or in the microwave, melt the chocolate chips with the peanut butter, stirring occasionally until smooth. Spread over the prepared crust. Refrigerate for at least one hour before cutting into squares.

If your original intent was to sell them, I think you should keep the patterns that you developed. So if another pattern maker wanted to copy your design, they would have to buy at least one from you.

If you are using top quality materials and fine craftsmanship, you don't want someone using your design and producing cheap junk.

Just my opinion as an old pattern maker.

good advice. I would take it...never feel like you HAVE TO do any thing, if your gut feeling is not, That is OK

Back from picking up 2 chicks from M2M. Turken crossed with ???. These chicks are butt-ugly!

My immediate thought for names are Quasi and Modo.

So now the quarantine/introduction process begins.

Too cute. Love the names.

Patience, Nova. As they say 'good things come to those who wait'. Sending some hatching vibes your way.

Mom2- Little Beeper is a cutie. Hope the hand feeding helps. And you are more than welcome to bring your peanut butter bars over to my house.
