Stealth pictures taken through the coop window of the new additions. They happen to be sleeping in the favourite nest box so I imagine that will not be the permanent sleeping spot. Gravy is sleeping in the box next to them.

eta: the second picture was taken first and the flash woke them up. Shame on me for disturbing their sleep.

29 posts isn't bad if you don't count the 98 prior......127 total....Sorry folks all you got was a skimming over. No offense to anyone but that's just way too many right now. I've been up since 5a.m., spent a good portion of the day at the barn with my DD and I didn't get to take a cat-nap!
Things seem to run alltoghterright now!

Nova....how exciting!! The chirping must be so cool to hear. Can't wait to see what news you post tomorrow.

Raz....what about Scrambles & Easy for names!

Hope everyone had a fantastic day!

AWWWWWWW!!

I thought I should pass this on. I just read this article stating that Snowy Owls have migrated to the lower 48 in mass looking for food. Soooo add another predator to your backyard list.

It was front page on the Sunday Free Press today. I found it fascinating that these majestic birds might be seen nearby. Deeper into the article, they said that snowy owls tend to hunt open tundra areas. So i'm guessing that my suburban homestead doesn't jibe with their prefered dining area.

we have one here. There are 6 different ones spotted so far here in Holland. Do owls attack chickens during the day?

According to the Freep article, they prefer voles, mice and rabbits. But they do hunt both day and night so due diligence is in order, I think.

LOL. Nova, when I read the first few words of your post, I thought you were talking about your baby chicks that are due to hatch! I was all set to ask for pics.

That aside, I read about the owls online a few days ago. Haven't seen any owls (snowy white or other) yet, but I'm sure sooner or later I will.
