Mom, sorry about your daughter. My daughter takes medicine daily for migraines that she gets constantly. They have such awful side effects if she misses taking one. With hers, along with seizures and standard side effects, it can cause a heart attack if missed (she's only 16!) and she has missed a few due to falling asleep before taking one. The day after she would have chest pains and breathing issues. After the last one she missed (which totally freaked me out), I made it a point to ask her every night if she's taken it. I've even woken her up to ask and I have them counted so I can re-count if her response is questionable. She can't just stop taking them and she'll need to be weaned off them when the time comes. I was finally able to get her to fully understand the repercussions after the last one missed and she has been better about taking them. However, if I had to, I would not hesitate to sit on her and force it down because I have seen what it does to her to miss just one.Thank you. Her seizures are getting progressively worse. Its easy for people of the medical variety to dismiss a child when they have a complaint. My daughter wont take her meds regularly because she doesnt like the way it makes her feel. The neuro really said, "thats too bad. you have to take it anyway". So, she pretends to take them.
Last night, the neuro said, "she doesnt like the taste" and I said, "No, it gives her a headache. And he said, "no, she doesnt like the taste. it cures headache, not causes it." and I told them, "She is thirteen, maybe it doesnt give her a headache, but its the way she describes what it does. Its not the taste".
I work with animals not people patients. AND I always tell the people responsible, "the best food in the world wont work if you cant get the cat to eat it".
Why cant the human world think the way I do? She is too old for me to sit on and force a pill down her throat. My son is bipolar on NO medication because when it helped him, he didnt think he needed it anymore. NOW- he needs it really bad. really really really bad. But he is eighteen, and he says he doesnt need meds. Its much easier to self-medicate, you see, with illegal stuff. AND, again, I KNOW he would benefit from his medication, but nobody wants to listen to me anyhow.
So true. When I'm under massive stress, I have a terrible time remembering things. I recently had a conversation with my in-laws about my parents' health and couldn't remember hardly any of the important details which earned me some very odd looks. DH didn't help me any because he said my lack of info was embarrassing. I couldn't remember until hours later.Stress makes a HUGE difference in memory. and shock is a real physical thing, not an aging thing. It actually changes your chemistry for a bit. Don't beat yourselves up for it.

He is a red satinette pigeon. I got him from Mary of Exeter off the pigeon board last year because my pigeon hen was always sitting on eggs, and wanted to hatch out her own babies really bad. She kept laying and laying and laying..Unfortunately, she died of unknown causes- and now I have this male who wants to breed with every female chicken here. So, now I need to get HIM a girlfriend. lolMom, that is a beautiful dovedid you just get that one, or is that the reason you wanted one? What kind is that? I see it has a little buff in it's wings.![]()
OOOOOOh so mad.... I found one of those green roses the other day at Family Fare, and it had a really good smell, which surprised me but at the time my DH was telling me we HAD to go, and i told him i wanted this rose and i got one of THOSE looks of exasperation..... (he of course had already zipped through checkout) and now the darn things are gone. It was only a week ago, but with valentines just around the corner...they sold before the pinks and reds, so looks like i'm not the only one this year.![]()
