I have pictures of adorable fluffy things to spam ya'll with! 10 ducklings and two olive eggers (bcm x Araucana, no tufting)

So this is what I woke up to this morning, the first few pekin ducklings who'd just hatched! Hatching is sure tough work, they get so tuckered out from it all!

As everyone slowly hatched and dried off, I moved the adorable little tykes to a temporary brooder :D

Falling asleep :D :D :D

This alert little fellow is a young drake

The cat was curious about the new fluffy things....until they chased her and she freaked out (she is not a hunter, and was often bested by my former housemate's pet ratties :D )

Attack duckies - CHAAAARGE! (no duckies were ever more than an arm's reach away when cat was present)

They are just so cute!

Awwww!
I do miss my silly ducks. I did a bit of researching and I've been thinking about getting a few Mallards, just for funs and grins.

The class is in Lowell. (Wittenbach/Wege Center in Lowell) Registration ended on Wednesday but I don't think the class is full. Love Ginger and Ale :)
I know a lady in Lowell who does beekeeping. She makes these really nice beeswax candles. I bought one for my MIL and she loved it.

Oh yes. Many times.

In fact after a disagreement last night, I smacked him with the said smart stick and told him I better see some flowers today or he was going to get nothing but a heaping bowl of beanie weenies for dinner. Guess who got a lovely pot of pink tulips today.

homemade using natural products... Not like buying it already made in a package with the added preservative for extended shelf life... I think a cookie shouldn't have a 6 month shelf life... My favorite cookies to make are no bakes and peanut butter. I like oatmeal also, but....

Nova, I agree with you on trying to cook as natural as you can. I also try to avoid food dyes. My youngest is adhd and they set her off (especially red and yellow). Also, my DH is big on cookies, too. He loves no bakes. What I do to counter balance the sugar in all my cookies and baked good is add cinnamon. At least a teaspoon, but sometimes more. DH says it helps control blood sugar levels that go wonky with too much sugar.

John - Beautiful Barred Rock Chickens! And what kind of cake takes 9 eggs?

Yes. They were very pretty. I love barred rocks.
I know some pound cakes can take that many eggs.

Stacykins- those ducks are too cute! I want some! And your cat is so pretty. She looks like my cat Mia only slightly orange instead of gray.

HH -- If it's not too much to ask, do you mind sharing what the rate of lay is with your BRs? Just curious how prolific they are.

Olive Hill, I don't mind you asking but I truthfully cannot say yet. I got them last spring and they took forever to start laying, over 30 weeks. Then I seperated them and put them in the camper coop and they quit laying for about 6 weeks. They are just now starting to lay again. Kathyinmo might be able to tell you better.

I love the pics of all the chicks and ducklings!

I DO! We have 2 black mini rex. Now I just need a few baby chicks and duckies.

When my kids were little I always had spring pictures taken of them by a professional photographer with bunnies. Then the kids got to be too big and the pictures with the bunnies didn't seem fitting.

Good Morning everyone-

Wheres Sam and the coffee?

It looks like we got three inches of snow? RaZ does that sound about right? IT looks like 3 on my deck rail- havent looked out front yet.

I really think winter missed its chance and should not be here now.

My chickens agree. I can hear one out there throwing a fit as I type. I have to go fill their waterers up- but first a cup of coffee is necessary.

I am so happy its the weekend. yay yay...its been a rough week. I plan on sitting on my butt and doing very little this weekend, except cramming biology questions down my daughter- she has a placement test on Monday to move to Advanced Placement Biology. So, thats my plans.

My lone little egg is supposed to hatch..tomorrow. So far, nada. It actually doesnt look that good- It was bopping around inside the egg when I candled it three days ago, but now I dont see any movement..well, yesterday I didnt see any movement. Time will tell.

Tomorrow, my husband has to go help load the bull on the truck at my brother in laws. No way I am going to be anywhere near that-I believe I told you guys already the bull kept breaking out of the fence and gate and ending up on the main road- and this last time, the police had to stop traffic and told him, "why cant you just throw a rope around his neck and lead him back?"....
So, its to steak heaven for him. He is humongous.
I told him to grab me some of my brother in laws eggs, and I will try and hatch out some of his own.

Hope you all have a great day!

ETA-

those little duck pictures are adorable. Makes me miss have ducks. But I sure dont miss their mess. I cant wait to see if Henry Goose becomes a Proud Papa this Spring..
