Farmerboy,

All the chick pics except the Vorwerks are bantam cochins. They are so adorable when hatched.

Opa- glad the babies are Ok and may DIL's sprains heal quickly
Raz~ I'm guessing 18
Farmerboy~ That is one smart peafowl you have there to go that far to find safe shelter....he will be mighty tasty from all the lean exercise when your dad butchers him for this weekends supper!

Raz, I just read the post where you referred to yourself as old. You have no idea just what you have in store.

I have a pretty good idea. I couldn't figure out who put bubble wrap in my bed, then I realized it was just me getting out of bed.
If I had known that I would live this long, I would have taken better care of my self.

The "Guess RaZ Number" seems to have stirred some interest so I'll keep it going a bit longer. So far the wrong answers have been 6,10, 12, 18, 32 and "eleventy". So maybe this is more fun for me but I do like to stir things up a bit.

The honey I have left is last spring, so it's choke cherry, apple and mostly early blooming field flowers. But if you like it extra sweet, I can stir it with my finger.

Yea for the Peahen!

Opa glad mom and babies are ok.

Raz - I guess 5 on the ducks

I need to know if I made an ok spot for my broody. It's not pretty, but will it work? Just a box with shavings in it with cloth covering the opening. There is room for a food dish inside. The wooden box has chicken wire on three sides. The other girls were very envious. The plan would be to move mom and babies to my small coop after the hatch. If my eggs had hatched a little later I would just try to graft them to her, but they are almost 2 weeks old now.

Here is part of the reason I decided to move her to the cardboard box. Not all my birds are as willing as the Polish to share the nest boxes.

Opa - very happy your son and dil's twins are fine.
I did a full front belly bounce when I was very pregnant with one of my kids (can't even remember which one) and while it scared me to death, the babies were both fine. There is something we can pray for - healthy twins and mom. Twins are always tougher. Keep us posted!

RaZ - did you order a lucky number like 13 mallards?

Sounds like Spring is here with the hens nesting and the rooster's fighting. Also the end of Winter is coming and once everyone gets outdoors again, tension in the coop should decrease. I remember Olive saying that the solution for rooster quarrels is more space..... that was good information.
