The chicks are doing great, very active and seem to be very healthy! It seems you guys did a good job perking them up!!

Not sure if we will order more, need a chance to talk to my 4-H kids and see what they want to do. I think they are waiting a bit to see how these chicks do, so far so good!

Rachel is excited about Prom. This is her senior year, so everything is extra special this year. We hear about a place in Albion that has everything from Wedding dress to ball gowns, prom dress, you name it. Hundreds of dresses from all of the country or even world. Great selection. Who knew in little bitty Albion! And they were reasonable!

I will be taking lots of pics when the big event comes, I will be sure to post one.

Rachel is a very pretty young lady, I bet she will be gorgeous in that prom dress. I was impressed that she spoke to me, most teens won't give us ole farts the time of day.

...we'll be holding you to the promise of pics too!

well you guys take it easy with those babies on the way...

i might be ordering chicks for the first time this spring to add to my little flock...woohoo! i'm considering meyer hatchery...anyone order from them?

We went and looked the cabinets on Craigs List - they were for a bathroom (and a fancy one at that

). So our quest for cabinetry continued. I heard back today from our kitty "momma" - we are going to see her either Saturday or Sunday - woo hoo, get ready for more pics! The pygmy lady finally answered me and sent me so pics to look at. The chicks' boxes are all nice and clean, lots of food for them and they are happy. The boy doesn't have school tomorrow, so we are taking him out to start building some type of cage/box for them to stay in at the other house. I have 7 silkies and the rest are a mixed variety of meat birds. Would you advise at this young age maybe building some type of petition and separating them to keep them safe? The silkies are weighing in over an ounce, some almost 2 whereas the other birds are anywhere from 2.6 to 4.3 ounces.

Hi Everyone!!
Boy it takes forever to catch up with everyone.

Saturday we went with our sons and families to the VanAndle and saw the Monster Trucks!

They were so cool!

I have always liked that kind of stuff anyway. They did have Grave Digger there too and we got to see him do some stuff.
Pretty noisey place, but fun.

Saturday morning we were awakened by lots of noise. One of our chicks hatched out. By the end of the day we had 9. Some of them have crooked feet. Anyone know why? I turned them like I was supposed to. Now we still have about 20 eggs in there and don't see any more signs of life. Also, their egg sack is supposed to be left alone until it comes off by itself isn't it?

When I was around chickens as a girl, the chickens did all the work for us. So I never bothered with an incubator. My Mom used to work at a poultry plant and could clean a chicken so fast. I remember when someone showed up for Sunday to visit, some chickens were killed and that was dinner.

I had a pet rabbit also and it was the most fun. Hated my folks little dog and used to kick it with her back feet and send it rolling!

Pretty funny.
Hope ya all have a great day tomorrow. I was outside almost all day today just enjoying being out there.
Good night all! Myrna

This is weird. For once I'm the first one on in the morning. Thought I'd stop in since I'm up and couldn't go back to sleep. Should be a yucky day. Its raining outside and freezing as it hits the ground.

I have a feeling that schools will be canceled. Driving should be fun. I hope by the time you get this, its just a nice spring rain. Have a good one.
Thinking of real spring:jumpy:bun

Good morning all. It sure doesn't appear that it is going to be a very pleasant day. Rain, cold and gloomy. Deary days make it hard to be positive and upbeat. I always say that there are no bad days only bad attitudes. Well days like the next few are going to be certainly put that theory to the test.
I'm headed to northeast Kentucky early Thursday morning. My daughter- inlaw's mother passed and they have taken her back to her home town of Flatwood to be buried. She had lived with Joe and Elizabeth for all but their first year of marriage so I got to know her well. When I mentioned to my best friend that I would be going alone he said I wouldn't be that he was going with me. Not many people are as fortune as I to have such a good friend.

I got a free rabbit hutch yesterday! Needs some repairs but it would be perfect for some quail

My bator had a temp spike... went to check on it and it was OFF but the therm. said 104!!! The fan quit working last hatch so it is now a still air bator... so I'm hoping it only got that hot for a moment and that it was more like 103 to the eggs and hopefully they will make it.......

....... can anyone tell me if they are more or less likely to survive a temp spike on day 3?
