This was too cute not to share. Yesterday i caught my roo trying to do his rooster duties to my only banty, rose. I was worried, but he was trying to be careful, so i didn't intervene as i didn't want her scared. I wondered if she was getting ready to lay, since she should be any day now. Plucky left the non-laying girls alone, until they started to lay. So today i was rounding up the crew, and she went right in, which is unusual for her. I put Plucky in, cause if i don't the girls cry for him when they get in. This is what i opened the door to when i got the next one:
He was sitting beside her, singing! He hasn't come near the nest box since i got his first hen for him, and never the little one up top. I think he knows it's her first. I had to leave early, so i hope all went well for her if she did lay. He is so attentive to his girls
Still a shoe-hater, but it is obvious that he loves and protects his girls. Is it ok for them to be together, though? I don't want her to be hurt, and he is so much bigger.
I don't eat vegetables or fruit very much so the chickens will be getting the majority of anything I plant. I bought some spinach seeds yesterday and it will be strictly for the chickens. Going to start the seeds in pots.
I just bought more hatching eggs.... but they were Polish and they are on my "list" and they ship the same day as my other eggs will. Now I just have to worry that they all ship on time and we don't have a blizzard!

The little chicken "shack" has glass all around the bottom for the cold days, so my lonely boy "giggles" got to have a nice warm dust bath. I call him that because that's about all he does. Poor boy really needs a lady friend. Still don't know what to do with him, but he was so nice i couldn't let them put him in the pot. His one spur is coming in single, though Does that mean his babies will not have the double spurs?
Nova - I am sure your son is very proud of his injuries. My son loved to hang out with his dad or a young friend and get injured. Boys! p.s. your son is very handsome!
RaZ! You don't eat your fruits and vegetables?
No wonder you snap crackle and pop when you get up! Take Vitamin D and Fish oil tablets and B complex - we all should!
