Ok... Here are some pictures...

The one on the dowel is Skeeter/Fluffers...
The little guy on the bottom is Buffy/Roger, single comb on him
AND then there is this ugly headed one. LOL. I am still hoping for a girl. It will be my luck though, that all 4 of Leilas are boys. LOL. BUT Yeah...
Another...

These are the full siblings... They look so different from each other.

I wasn't thinking about big operations at all. They have all in-all out production and top level biosecurity. My consideration was only for those of us with small flocks, the ones that support the breeding of rare and unusual chickens, and that often let their birds out to roam or have facilities that allow contact with wild birds.

I never read the words "stupid farmers" on Fuzzy's post, either.

Wow, what a night for RAZ and Mom2Em. Mom2em, city/town do you live in? With that pitiful police response, that is just pathetic. I will make a mental not to be caught in that locale after dark!

Good thinking RAZ for using the FAX when you had your friend on the phone. Sometimes all you can say about something like that is , "WOW"

Farmerboy, as a newbie to raising chickens what are the symptoms of Mycoplasma G? What are the dangers to the birds as well as other animals or humans? Can you not eat the eggs? How did you suspect this in your flock? When I hear stories like this, it makes me question if chicken raising is really something I want to pursue or not.

Thank you all for your comments on the coop progress. I was in limbo all day debating about lifting the coop or not, so I cut firewood all day instead. I have a tractor w/ a loader that would lift it, but I don't have pallet forks, so it would be a little tricky, so anyway the coop looks exactly like it did yesterday. Seems like the consensus among you all now now is to just keep it where it is, try to improvise some shade in the run, and make sure there is plenty of ventilation in the coop. I was planning on putting a hardware cloth skirt around the coop anyhow. I know we had a groundhog under it last year. I shot the groundhog...and it ran back under the shed. Wonder if the thing is still decomposing under there or it made off somewhere else. Never saw it again. Hated to waste this beautiful day not working on the coop/run, but we needed more firewood anyway. Is the forecast still for freezing rain tonight?

While I pulled out the incubator I was thinking of the MG and and my hatching eggs coming. MG can be transmitted through the egg and my understanding is even if you are NPIP certified they do not check for MG. Scary! It isn't even listed in any of the chicken books I have - no wonder it isn't being treated if no one even knows what it is.

A few questions for you experts:

I have a torn wattle on my little Bantam Roo. He has a piece hanging down, like the size of a piece of coconut. Should it be cut off or just leave it hanging?

Blackberry my broody Cochin has tossed out the same egg twice. When I candled I could see some development but not sure on movement. Is it just a coincidence or do they toss eggs that are bad?

Can I put Ivomectin on my broody hen?

Anyone want a Welsummer roo? He left a 1 inch gouge in the middle of a half dollar size bruise on my son's arm. Given my son has provoked him in the past but after observing them today it is now unprovoked. Lots of attempted spurs. He has never taken after anyone else and is pretty meek with me. He's the low roo in the pecking order.

I spent the whole day moving things into my newly finished... ok almost finished sewing room. No more working on the floor for me.

Good verse grandma.
