No problems that I know of, lately. Someone else mentioned trumpet vine. I might try it. My chickens have cohabited with the MGs for one season. Then too, I read somewhere that clover is poisonous to chickens ???

I did a quick research on "clover poisoning" and it didn't take long for me to decide that it is a non-starter. Of course that is just MY opinion.

It does appear to be an issue with horses eating a lot of spoiled (ie, mouldy) clover (Melilotus officinalis and M. alba). A few cases of cattle and sheep "poisoning" were described and again it was related to spoiled feed. I did not find one valid report of clover toxicity in poultry.

tap, it's a good thing you had concerned mail folks going by some of the horror stories people put on here. I would imagine the yolks would be damaged if there was a problem with the eggs, but they'd have to be shaken pretty darn hard to scramble the egg in the shell... mother nature is a great designer!

Welcome Jp

Opa? you know when you're not one of the first on the board, with the coffee brewing, people get concerned!

Just sayin!

My BBW hen turkey seems to have confused me with a Tom. She follows me around like a love sick puppy... I did manage to get her to cooperate with the tom (royal palm), but we'll see if it does anything. I'd be curious if she could actually produce something.

I'm going out Saturday with my Metalsmithing professor (it's been 25 years) and a couple friends from my college days. It's nice that we stay in touch and get together every few months to shoot the breeze, talk about art, and have a good time... I swear the one friend should have been a comedian he's so funny!

We just put new high performance exhaust and air cooling system on the challenger, so, if you see a loud furious fuchsia challenger with blacked out windows.....I apologize in advance.... it's probably me! I grew up driving the old mopar muscle cars, so when I got a chance to get a new, limited edition color challenger, I jumped on it!! Even though it is pink, I love my car!!

My new computer is here. It too is driving me crazy. I'm in real trouble now. I can not bring up the elllectronic guide book, can't get on line with the wireless thingy,

I suppose that's why I spent 2.5 hrs on this old (workable) thing.
When I bought my new laptop last semester, I decided to let Geek Squad do the initial set-up. It saved me a lot of time getting rid of the junk that new computers come with. My only problem was getting hooked up to my wireless at home. I had forgotten what the password was to get logged in to the network.
Then there was each and every site has it's own log-in and password, so now I've made a notebook of them with addys, log-ins and password.

I thought computers were supposed to save us frustration, paper, time, etc.

Catching up is hard to do.
I'm having Sorrow, Anger, Apprehension, Regrets, Joy, Envy, and several other responses to many of the posts I've read this A M. And I assure all that the reactions are IMO all reasonable and consistent with the mores of each and every one of you.

Teeville, sorry to hear about your little bantams

Taprock, glad your eggs came! All mine are going to be shipped around the 13th.

And I am so sorry all, but I am in Sunny Florida, 80's, fishing every day - this was our first day out. A 33" redfish, we released her as she was outside the slot limit (18 to 27 for redfish) but it was very exciting!!

Hello. I am a chicken outlaw from Sterling Heights. I am new to chickens being a city girl. My husband was raised elsewhere and has some experience. We purchased our chicks 4 weeks ago hoping to get an early start and summer eggs. I had no idea they would grow SO fast. We purchased 5 chicks: 1 silkie, 1 rhode island red, 1 leghorn, 1 easter egger and 1 isa brown. I look forward to reading through the Michigan forum and gaining Michigan chicken information.
Welcome

We are a chatty bunch. I was gone for a year though and didn't try to catch up. (they all repeat themselves eventually anyway, so not to worry).

MSU Vet told me tums with calcium.
Like how much.....1/2 a tablet, 1 tablet a day?

I did not find one valid report of clover toxicity in poultry.
This is good to see because we have it all the place and chickens love nibbling on. They've done so since the first day they were allowed to free range.
